Abstract:
A wind turbine generator includes a stator having a core and a plurality of stator windings circumferentially spaced about a generator longitudinal axis. A rotor is rotatable about the generator longitudinal axis, and the rotor includes a plurality of magnetic elements coupled to the rotor and cooperating with the stator windings. The magnetic elements are configured to generate a magnetic field and the stator windings are configured to interact with the magnetic field to generate a voltage in the stator windings. A heat pipe assembly thermally engaging one of the stator and the rotor to dissipate heat generated in the stator or rotor.

A desktop sharing system and method are provided. A desktop sharing application permits a selected display region on a first computer's desktop to be shared with other computers. The desktop sharing application permits another computer to assume control and share a selected display region of the other computer's desktop during a conference.
Abstract:
This document discusses, among other things, a stator with transposition between the windings or coils. The coils are free from transposition to increase the fill factor of the stator slots. The transposition at the end connections between an inner coil and an outer coil provide transposition to reduce circulating current loss. The increased fill factor reduces further current losses. Such a stator is used in a dual rotor, permanent magnet machine, for example, in a compressor pump, wind turbine gearbox, wind turbine rotor.
Abstract:
A control system for a rotary machine is provided. The rotary machine has at least one rotating member and at least one substantially stationary member positioned such that a clearance gap is defined between a portion of the rotating member and a portion of the substantially stationary member. The control system includes at least one clearance gap dimension measurement apparatus and at least one clearance gap adjustment assembly. The adjustment assembly is coupled in electronic data communication with the measurement apparatus. The control system is configured to process a clearance gap dimension signal and modulate the clearance gap dimension.
Abstract:
The machine includes a rotor with an inner rotor core and an outer rotor core and a double-sided stator with an inner stator side and an outer stator side. The double-sided stator is concentrically disposed between the inner rotor core and the outer rotor core of the wind turbine generator. The double-sided stator is configured to enable at least a portion of magnetic flux to be shared between the inner stator side and the outer stator side. Examples of particularly useful embodiments for the machine include wind turbine generators and ship propulsion motors.
Abstract:
Methods for treating a disease condition in a subject are provided. The subject methods are characterizing by enhancing at least one symptom of the disease condition in a manner effective to cause the subject to mount a compensatory response effective to treat the disease condition. Also provided are compositions, kits and systems for practicing the subject methods.
Abstract:
Methods are provided for treating a subject for at least one condition that includes inflammation, a blood clotting condition and autonomic nervous system dysfunction such as adrenergia, e.g., simultaneously. Also provided are kits for use in practicing the subject methods.
Abstract:
A system and method for assessing and potentially correcting for non-translational motion in a resonance measurement apparatus is provided. The design measures the response of an article, such as an HGA assembly including a read/write head, as well as the excitation of a shaking device, such as a head resonance tester, and computes a correction factor using either two or three point measurement. The correction factor may be evaluated by subjecting the arrangement to further vibration at varying frequencies. Measurement of the shaking device may be accomplished using an accelerometer or by optical measurement using a light beam.
Abstract:
Methods are provided for treating a subject for a condition by modulating at least a portion of the subject's autonomic nervous system. In accordance with certain embodiments of the subject methods, at least a portion of a subject's autonomic nervous system is electrically or pharmacologically modulated in a manner that is effective to treat the subject for the condition. The subject methods find use in the treatment of a variety of different conditions, where such conditions include various disease conditions. Also provided are systems and kits for use in practicing the subject methods.
