Abstract:
In a communications network that provides services to a plurality of users, events occurring during service processing are accumulated in an event record and sent to a record processor to perform post-processing, such as assessing charges to be billed to users of the network. Each service processing node in the communications network accumulates event records, bundles them with instructions as to how they are be processed, and dispatches them to one or more record processors. Before being sent to a record processor, an event record is augmented with instructions describing how to perform processing upon the events in the event record. The record processors are general-purpose processors and the instructions for post-processing are carried within the event records themselves. Post-processors are no longer required to be dedicated to a particular purpose such as billing computation. Furthermore, deployment of post-processing function is more timely and can be integrated with deployment of service processing functions to network service processors.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for discovery of inmate-employee fraternization includes correlating inmate identification records and employee information data from a plurality of correctional facilities in a central database with call detail records from inmate telephone activities.
Abstract:
A user, using, for example, a web browser and application server technology, is able to consolidate and present session information, for example, from a multi-model session on a voice recognition system. For example, a web browser can be used to display consolidated session information comprising network information, call logs, location database information, recorded user utterances, voice portal prompts, or any other information associated with an interactive voice response system.
Abstract:
A messaging response system is disclosed wherein a service providing system provides services to users via messaging communications. In accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, multiple respondents servicing users through messaging communications may appear to simultaneously use a common nullscreen namenull identifier.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a system and method for auditing and reconciliation of a telephone service provider's database and a central or regional repository. Both the database and repository contain data records. The data records include telephone number porting information that facilitates tracking and porting of telephone numbers. The system comprises interface means between a service provider's database and the repository. The method includes user interface which facilitates selection of auditing and reconciliation choices, including amount of date to be analyzed and downloaded, the type of data and data processing application and time of operation.
Abstract:
A method of routing a telephone call includes receiving an indication, at a handset device 112, to initiate a telephone call. It is then determined, preferably by the handset device 112, whether the telephone call is an emergency services telephone call. If the telephone call is not an emergency services telephone call, it is routed to a proxy server 134. On the other hand, if the telephone call is an emergency services telephone call, it is routed to a local gateway 116 without first accessing the proxy server 134.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus in a switching element for maintaining data used in operation of a communications system. Examples of such operations include serving sessions and routing calls. A local data structure is maintained within the switching element wherein the local data structure contains data used by the switching element in its operation in the communications system. Responsive to a requirement for needed data that is unavailable or out-of-date from the local data structure, a request is generated for the needed data from a server through a communications link from the switching element to the server.
Abstract:
Systems, methods and program products are disclosed for determining billable usage of a communications system wherein services are provided via instant communications. In some embodiments, the present invention provides for authorizing the fulfillment of service requests based upon information pertaining to a billable account.
Abstract:
Methods and devices are disclosed which provide for a communications gateway to be operatively coupled to a messaging system. In accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, communications are established via the gateway responsive at least to messaging communications involving the communications gateway.
