摘要: Methods of forming support layers for use in catheters using having a support layer included, and stents incorporating coatings of photosensitive polymerizable resins and stents including fibers coated with photosensitive polymerizable resins. A fiber is coated with a PPC resin and incorporated into a support structure for a catheter. Portions of the PPC are polymerized by exposure to light of a desired wavelength, causing increased rigidity and strength to the polymerized portions. As the PPC is polymerized, the fibers coated by the PPC resins become stronger and change the flexibility of devices incorporating such fibers. Additional embodiments include stents incorporating PPC coatings and methods of using such stents, including polymerizing a PPC coating after inserting a self-expanding or balloon-expandable stent.

摘要: A medical device having a biodegradable coating comprising an inorganic material complexed to macromolecules. Biodegradation of the biodegradable coating releases nanoparticles of the inorganic material with macromolecules complexed to the released nanoparticles. The inorganic material may be applied directly onto the medical device as a nanostructured coating or be dispersed within or under a layer of biodegradable polymer. The medical device body may comprise a biodegradable metallic material. Also provided is a method of delivering macromolecules to body tissue using the medical device of the present invention.

摘要: Intravascular cutting device that does not require an inflatable balloon for blade deployment. A cutting wire can be reversibly moved between a retracted, non-cutting position in which the cutting wire does not contact tissue and an extended, cutting position in which the cutting wire does contact tissue.

摘要: In one embodiment, an apparatus for shaping an article may comprise a plurality of movable dies arranged to form a chamber whose size may be varied by moving the dies. Each of the dies may have a contacting surface for contacting the article to be shaped. The chamber may have a first portion having a first cross-section and a second portion having a second cross-section. Either portion may include a taper. The first portion may have a differently shaped cross-section than the second portion. The first portion may have a cross-section of greater area than the second portion. The longitudinal axis of the first portion may be offset from the longitudinal axis of the second portion.
