摘要: To allow both the valve lift and valve timing for an engine valve to be varied in a continuous manner, the variable valve actuating device (1) comprises a camshaft (8) rotatably supported by a fixed part of the engine and provided with a cam (7), a first rocker arm (9) pivotally supported by a fixed part of the engine, the first rocker arm being provided with a first point (12) engaging a stem of an engine valve (6), a drum (11) rotatably supported by a fixed part of the engine and at least partly surrounding the cam, a second rocker arm (10) having a first point (20) pivotally supported by the drum, a second point (21) adapted to engage the cam and a surface engaged by a second point (22) of the first rocker arm, and a control member (25, 26) for selectively turning the drum over a prescribed angular range.

摘要: There is realized a storage system which can reduce the limitation of a device number used by a host CPU at the time of duplexing data. A micro processor of a source external storage controller unit unifies a plurality of write data received from the host CPU to the same data bus to provide one unit of data transmitting to a target storage system. A number not dependent on the device number used when the host CPU specifies a device is allocated to this. Then, the source external storage controller unit sends the write data to the target external storage controller unit. This can receive/send the data without depending on the target specifying device number.

摘要: In a storage apparatus system, after having obtained the coherency between a file system of a main storage apparatus system and the stored data, a host computer issues a freezing instruction to a main DKC which transfers in turn the disk image at a time point of the issue of freezing instruction to a sub-DKC and then transmits a signal, showing that all the data has been transmitted, to the sub-DKC. In the sub-DKC, the disk image at a time point of reception of the freezing instruction is held until a signal showing that all the data has been transmitted is issued next time, and when the main storage apparatus system becomes unusable at an arbitrary time point, the data of the disk image, at a time point of issue of the freezing instruction, which is held by the sub-storage apparatus system can be utilized.

摘要: A method, apparatus and computer program for controlling data migration in an information processing system which includes a central processing unit (CPU), a new storage system connected to the CPU and an old storage system connected to the new storage system. In the information processing system data migration is conducted to transfer data from the old storage system to the new storage system. The invention operates by permitting access by the CPU to the storage systems during data migration. When an access by the CPU is generated the invention determines whether the access is to a region where data migration has been completed or to a region where data migration has not been completed. If the access is to a region where data migration has been completed, then processing of the access is handled by the new storage system. If the access is to a region where data migration has not been completed, then processing of the access is handled by the old storage system causing data related to the access to be transferred from the old storage system to the new storage system. The speed of data migration can be adjusted based upon the utilization of the resources of the information processing system and information of the priority of access to the new storage system by the CPU.

摘要: An intake system for an internal combustion engine includes first and second intake valve bores provided to face a combustion chamber and to be independently opened and closed by first and second intake valves, and first and second intake ports which are connected to the corresponding intake valve bores with a partition wall interposed therebetween and which communicate with a common intake passage. In a particular operation range of the engine, an imbalance is produced in the concentration of the air-fuel mixture flowing through the first and second intake valve bores into the combustion chamber on the basis of a difference between the amounts of fresh air flowing into the first and second intake ports. The intake system further includes a communication hole provided in the partition wall for putting the first and second intake ports into communication with each other. This provides for improvements in the lean combustibility and in the nature of the exhaust gas.

摘要: An oil pan structure for the cylinder block of an internal combustion engine for storing lubricating oil in the oil pan. A volume body submergible at least partly below the oil level for displacing a volume of oil when the oil is titled by displacement to one side in the oil pan as a result of the running condition of the motor vehicle having the engine with the oil pan structure, such as during turning, acceleration, deceleration or banking. The volume body has an inlet opening positioned near an allowable upper limit oil level for a predetermined maximum oil tilting condition for introducing into the volume body the lubricating oil which exceeds the allowable upper limit oil level. The oil pan structure also has an oil discharge passage from the lower portion of the volume body.

摘要: When a disk controller receiving an access from a host computer to a disk device is connected with a disk connection device, if a relevant disk is used by another disk controller, positioning data for seek, set file mask and set sector are queued in a common memory. When the relevant disk becomes free, the disk controller reads the queued information and requires the disk device for positioning. A request of a reconnection with the host computer is issued from the disk controller informed by the disk unit, which has finished positioning at the position specified by the positioning data, search of an aimed record and a read/write operation of transmitted data are effected without any new intervening of an access program of the host computer.

摘要: A primary controller operates to transmit write data and a write time to a secondary controller in the earlier sequence of the write times after reporting a completion of a request for write to a processing unit. The secondary controller stores the write data and the write time transmitted from the primary controller in the cache memory. At a time, the secondary controller stores the write data in a disk unit in the earlier sequence of the write time. These operations make it possible to guarantee all the write data on or before the reference time.
