Abstract: A radially stacked planetary gear assembly provides improved lubrication fluid flow to the planet gear bearings of an outer planetary gear set which is especially important when the housing or outer planetary gear carrier is stationary. The assembly includes radially aligned or stacked inner and outer planetary gear sets each having a sun gear, a ring gear and a carrier having planet gears in constant mesh with the sun and ring gears wherein the ring gear of the inner gear set is also the sun gear of the outer gear set and the outer carrier is the assembly housing. The sun gear is disposed on a transmission shaft having lubrication passages which aligns with pluralities of radial openings in a hub housing. A circular plate or guide adjacent one side of the housing includes channels which align with the openings and functions as a lubrication director, channeling lubrication from the transmission shaft and the pluralities of radial openings in the housing hub to the outer bearings, shafts and planet gears.

Abstract: The present invention provides an automatic transmission capable of properly judging faults of a switching mechanism. A control part ECU of the automatic transmission TM has an actual change gear ratio calculating part 10 and a fault judging part 11. Under a condition that the control part ECU has recognized that the first brake device B1 is switched to a reverse rotation preventing state, if the actual change gear ratio is kept to be an actual change gear ratio prior to a reduce of a rotational speed of a drive source ENG when the rotational speed of the drive source ENG is reduced, then the fault judging part 11 judges that a first brake B1 has a fault.

Abstract: In an automatic transmission, the control part controls the engaging mechanisms and recognizes the rotational speed of a drive source and a stop request for the drive source. The automatic transmission changes the rotational speed of the input member to transmission gear ratios by the planetary gear mechanism and the engaging mechanisms so as to freely output the rotation from the output member. The engaging mechanisms include a switching mechanism switchable between a fixed state and a reverse rotation preventing state in which a normal rotation of a corresponding element among the elements of the planetary gear mechanism is allowed and a reverse rotation thereof is prevented. The control part switches the switching mechanism in a state in which the stop request for the drive source is not recognized and the rotational speed of the drive source is equal to or greater than a predetermined value.

Abstract: An automatic transmission system includes a housing containing automatic transmission fluid (ATF), a plurality of clutches configured to be engaged to generate gear ratios corresponding to forward speeds of the automatic transmission, wherein one clutch of the plurality of clutches is a friction clutch movable between a disengaged state, an engaged state utilized to create one or more gear ratios of the automatic transmission, and a slippingly engaged state between the disengaged state and the engaged state where the friction clutch is not engaged to create a gear ratio of the automatic transmission, and a controller configured to selectively move the friction clutch to the slippingly engaged state when the friction clutch is not being utilized to generate the one or more gear ratios, such that the friction clutch generates heat from friction to thereby rapidly heat the ATF in the housing and improve operating efficiency of the transmission.

Abstract: A planetary gearing device includes a gearing input shaft, a gearing output shaft, a gearing housing, and at least a first, second and third planetary gear train, each having a sun gear, a ring gear and at least one planet gear. The planetary gear trains are centrally arranged with respect to a gearing axis and can be mutually, particularly selectively, connected with torque transmission devices. The first planetary gear train are arranged radially within the second planetary gear train. Abstract: An automatic transmission (1) includes first, second, and third planetary gear sets (10, 20, 30) and a lubricant feed passage (L2). The first and second planetary gear sets (10, 20) form a two-stage planetary gear set (40). The third planetary gear set (30) is adjacent to the two-stage planetary gear set on one axial side of the automatic transmission. The lubricant feed passage (L2) feeds a lubricant to a bearing (25) of the second planetary gear set located on an outer periphery of the two-stage planetary gear set (40). The lubricant feed passage feeds the lubricant from a first inlet (37e) to the bearing via a first oil passage (37f) and oil passages (26a, 26b, 26c) in a pinion shaft. The first inlet (37e) is formed on a side of a carrier body (37) opposite to the two-stage planetary gear set and on an inner periphery of the automatic transmission.
