Abstract:
A portable device uses a microphone to listen to ambient audio, derives data from captured audio signals, and uses the derived data to request delivery of the audio or related information to the user's home or other location. The device is desirably pocket-sized, or suitable for carrying on a key-ring. The device may also detect a watermark signal that is present in the user's environment (e.g., played through a public address speaker system) to aid the user in recalling the context from which the audio was requested.
Abstract:
Registration data embedded in an image is used to determine and compensate for geometric transformation of the image. The registration data may include frequency domain features of the image that are used to compute the rotation and/or scaling of the image. The registration method may be used in conjunction with digital watermarking and other signal processing applications.
Abstract:
The accuracy of reading a barcode embedded in a printed document is maintained, and at the same time, the amount of toner and the like consumed is reduced. When document information read by scanning is analyzed and the density of the document information is higher than a predetermined threshold vale, that is, when the printed document has a space enough to contain the barcode, the density of the barcode is set such that the density of the barcode is decreased as compared with a case where the density of the document information is lower than the predetermined threshold value. By changing the size of dots and the distance between the dots and thus decreasing the density of the barcode, it is possible to reduce the amount of toner and the like consumed. Then, the set barcode is synthesized with the document information, and the synthesized image is output.
Abstract:
Various signal processing methods and apparatus are provided. One claim recites a method of linking media to a network resource. The method includes: computing, with an electronic processor on a handheld device, attributes of media used to identify the media; providing, from the handheld device, computed attributes of the media to a network resource, wherein the network resource uses the computed attributes of the media to identify the media or metadata associated with the media; receiving, at the handheld device, metadata associated with the identified media in the network resource. Of course, other combinations and claims are provided as well.
Abstract:
A system for delivering an electronic document is disclosed. The system has a printer for printing on a substrate user information indicative of a send instruction which is visible to a user and coded tags invisible to the user. A sensing device senses the coded tags when the sensing device is moved relative to the substrate by the user interacting with the user information. A computer system electronically captures a message composed with the sensing device via movement of the sensing device relative to a predetermined area on the substrate. The computer system determines the predetermined area on the substrate and electronically captures the message. When the sensing device senses coded tags coincident with the send instruction, the computer system transmits the message to a recipient address.
Abstract:
A system and method for verifying that a document is included in a document management system is disclosed. This system and method includes radio frequency scanning at least a portion of the document, generating document data dependently upon the radio frequency scanning, comparing the generated document data to stored document data, the stored document data generated dependently upon a prior radio frequency scanning of at least a portion of the document, and outputting an indication of the document being included in the document management system as determined by the comparing.
Abstract:
Methods of steganographically encoding auxiliary data into audio and decoding the auxiliary data. In an encoding method, a processor maps the auxiliary data to samples in the audio data. A processor modifies the mapping of the auxiliary data to the samples over time. A processor modifies a feature of the samples of the audio data to which the code signals are mapped to convey the auxiliary data substantially imperceptibly in the audio data. In a decoding method, a processor performs decoding of a multibit auxiliary code embedded in an audio signal. A processor decodes code values of the auxiliary code from two or more different portions of the audio signal, each having the multibit auxiliary code. A processor combines the code values decoded from the two or more different portions of the audio signal to determine the code values of the auxiliary code.
Abstract:
The presently claimed invention relate generally to portable audio devices. One claim recites a method including: receiving audio content data through an interface of a portable personal digital device capable of playing audio; storing the received audio content data in electronic memory; audibly rendering said audio content data; utilizing an electronic processor, counting a number of plays of the received audio content data; and displaying the number of plays of the received audio content data to a user of the portable personal digital device. Of course additional claims and combination are provided as well.
Abstract:
In a copy generation management on paper, the present invention aims to detect a falsification in embedded information and increase the capacity of embedded information while maintaining security. The image processing device embeds second additional information into document image data embedded with first additional information. The image processing device deletes a part where the first additional information is embedded in the document image data, and embeds the second additional information into the part of the first additional information thus deleted. The image processing device further embeds third information different from the first and second additional information at a position different from position at which the second additional information is embedded. Further, the embedding means embeds the third information at a position indicated by the second additional information.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an image processor capable of preventing illegal copying of a document. The image processor first extracts information from a barcode in a first region of document image data. Then, the image processor extracts information from a barcode in a second region of the document image data if the information is extracted from the barcode in the first region. On the other hand, if the information is not extracted from the barcode in the first region, the image processor does not extract the information from the barcode in the second region of the document image data. This enables a copying operation for a document consisting of a plurality of pages to be efficiently controlled.
