Disclosed are disperse dyes comprising a cyanodinitroaniline azo moiety and a particular group of 2(2'-alkoxy-5'-acylamidoanilino)alkane couplers. These dyes give exceptional color depth and brightness, shade permanancy on heat setting, build, leveling, barre coverage, dye exhaustion and dyeing rate on polyester fiber over widely varying dyeing conditions of for example, temperature and pressure. The dyes exhibit blue shades with excellent colorfastness properties on polyester fibers and have excellent dyeability by heat fixation (Thermosol) or exhaust (boil and pressure) methods of application on this substrate. Uniform dyeability under a wide variety of conditions is an exceptional feature of the present dyes.

Described are aqueous, stable, highly concentrated, finely dispersed, flowable preparations of dyestuffs and optical brighteners insoluble to difficultly soluble in water, which preparations have a low content of dispersing agent and a particle size smaller than 10.mu., particularly smaller than 2.mu., characterized in that these preparations contain at least 10 per cent by weight of water, at least 30 per cent by weight of a finely dispersed dyestuff or optical brightener insoluble to difficultly soluble in water, and a mixture consisting of at most 10 per cent by weight of an anion-active dispersing agent, at most 5 per cent by weight of a nonionic dispersing agent and at most 35 per cent by weight of a hydrotropic agent, as well as, optionally, further additives which preparations are useful for the dyeing, printing and optical brightening of textile material in a conventional manner or for the production of printing pastes having an aqueous base or a water-in-oil emulsion base which printing postes are useful for the printing of carrier materials, particularly paper with application of dyestuffs or optical brighteners suitable for transfer printing and use of the printed carrier materials in the transfer printing process on textile materials.

Described is a process for the printing and pad-dyeing of mixed fabric made from fiber mixtures consisting of material consisting of materials dyeable with disperse dyestuffs and materials dyeable with reactive dyestuffs, especially polyesters/cotton, by the use of printing pastes or padding liquors containing at least one disperse dyestuff of the azo series and at least one reactive dyestuff, wherein there is used a printing paste or padding liquor in which the disperse dyestuff is formed in the printing paste or padding liquor. There are obtained by this process printing or dyeings which have some advantages over the prior art. The staining of the cellulose constituent can more easily be washed out and only a slight staining of white ground occurs.

Heretofore, halogenated aromatic polyesters (as defined), such as those formed by the reaction of tetrabromobisphenol A, and a mixture of isophthaloyl chloride and terephthaloyl chloride, have proven to be extremely difficult to dye and to undergo a deleterious fiber degradation when dyeing is attempted in the presence of common dye carriers. Difficulties heretofore encountered when attempts have been made to dye such fibrous materials effectively are eliminated in the substantial absence of fiber degradation when practicing the present process. The dyeing of the specifically defined halogenated aromatic polyester fibrous material with an aqueous disperse dye system is carried out at substantially atmospheric pressure and at a temperature of about 80.degree. to 100.degree.C. in the presence of an acetophenone dye carrier.
