摘要： A portable, water-filled barrier is internally divided into cells and emulates a sandbag dike or wall without requiring sand or intensive labor to install. A rigid ladder spans the barrier to provide structural support and enable traversing of the barrier. The ladder can be attachable to the barrier. The light, flexible barrier material can include nanofiber. Automatic valves can seal openings between the filled cells, so that a punctured cell will not cause cells below and behind to deflate. Cells can project below the base into a stabilizing trench. Cells can include internal or external rods or plates that support the barrier structure. Some embodiments can be initially filled with air, positioned, and then filled with water while the air escapes through a pressure valve. Other embodiments are filled from above, and inflate and deflate without allowing air into the barrier. Barrier end structures can enable interlocking of adjacent units.

摘要： A unique water containment wall or barrier employs a flexible envelope that is extendable in a longitudinal direction from a collapsed condition for storage and transport into an expanded position for use. Support ribs disposed at spaced apart positions along the longitudinal direction provide support and shape retention to the envelope, the interior of which is fillable with water to weigh down the envelope down against oncoming or expanding waters. A unique fastening mechanism attaches a pair of wail or barrier sections together by using an inflatable member to force apart a pair of profiled ribs on the two sections into engagement with matching-profile walls of a channel member that bridges together the two sections over the ribs. A bumper mechanism rises and falls with water levels to protect the wail or barrier against impact by floating debris.

A door over the feed opening is movable between open and closed positions by a first piston connected to the door. A plunger disposed within the conduit is movable between a retracted position and an extended position by a second piston connected to the plunger. A method of making bio logs includes retracting the first piston to move the door to the open position, retracting the second piston to move the piston to the retracted position, disposing a quantity of filling material into the chamber, extending the first piston to move the door to the closed position, and extending the second piston to move the plunger to the extended position.

摘要： An erosion control plank is provided. The plank is a lattice of intersecting vertical walls and horizontal walls and includes an opening to permit a stake to secure the plank over an eroded region. The plank can be secured by a stake. The eroded region is filled with appropriate fill material which would pass through the lattice. Plants and other growth are introduced onto the plank and fill material on or through the lattice where their root networks would help secure the fill and the plank and prevent erosion. The plank is rectangular and includes connectors to permit multiple planks to be secured to one another in both a horizontal and vertical relationship, allowing the erosion control planks to fit over any of a variety of eroded surfaces and to prevent erosion from occurring there again. The erosion control planks may also be used on a non-eroded area to prevent the onset of erosion.

Upon drying the biomass construct conforms and binds to a ground surface providing a hard porous medium capable of adhering to a large variety of ground surfaces and to terrain of varied slope, pitch and constitution.
