摘要: A method for intranasal stem cell therapy provides a non-invasive procedure to inject mesenchymal stem cells directly through the nostrils for stem cell deposition in nerve endings, for the uptake of large number of stem cells directly into the central nervous system, and bypassing the blood-brain barrier. The method involves steps: preparing the patient psychologically and physically prior to receiving the stem cell specimen; intravenously introducing a solution of sodium chloride or Ringer's lactate containing mannitol, and glutathione. The method also includes: clearing and illuminating the inferior turbinate of the nostrils; urging a pair of absorbent fiber soaked with lidocaine and epinephrine into the nostrils; inserting, through one of the nostrils, a 27G 1¼″ needle at a midpoint of the inferior turbinate at a 30° angle relative to the facial plane, and at an angle between 5° to 10° relative to a lateral reference point; and performing post-procedure maintenance.

摘要: A disposable finger mounted swab has an applicator end configured to contact a body part, natural orifice, open wound or surgical opening of a person or animal and an opening end arranged opposite the applicator end configured for receiving a finger of a user. An outer lining configured for direct contact with the body part, natural orifice, open wound or surgical opening of a person or animal. A water-resistant protective layer attached outer lining. A constricting band attached or integral with outer edges of the opening end of the disposable finger mounted swab and configured to maintain the swab in place on the finger during intended use. The swab may be packaged in a packet, wherein a substance for delivery using the swab is included in or upon the outer lining; the package or packet is hermetically sealed.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for retracting the dura away from a cutting tool during a laminectomy procedure. The method includes inserting a memory shape surgical sponge (patty) into an initial epidural space between the dura and the tool used to decompress (e.g., drill) the lamina. As the lamina is further decompressed, the patty tends to spring back toward its nominal position, urging the dura away from the decompression and isolating the dura from the drill.

摘要: This invention describes a wound dressing product for active continuous debridement of devitalized tissues in non-healing wounds including diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, burn injuries and other etiologies. The present invention pertains to the principle of continuous wound debridement which makes necrotic tissue more susceptible for removal and hence enhances progressive wound healing. The dressing contains an active ingredient, such as collagenase which serves to debride wounds in-situ. In the present invention purified Collagenase (90% pure) was deposited onto several wound dressing materials. A key feature of this invention is that the activity level of the Collagenase used was substantially preserved.

摘要: The present invention provides a device that can move inside a biological conduit such as an intestinal tract for sampling the content therein, and a process thereof. While moving along the intestinal tract, the device can continuously collect the content in the intestinal tract. One or more convoy belts having an adsorbent layer are configured to continuously absorb and preserve the collected intestinal content. The belt loaded with the sample may be used to establish a chemical, biochemical and microbiological spectrum along the length of the intestinal tract.

摘要: Provided herein is an oleophilic matrix comprising at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of a polydimethylsiloxane having micropillars; a microporous polydimethylsiloxane; and an ophthalmic-grade cellulose having an alumina-deposited surface. The matrixes can be used, for example, to remove an oil, such as a silicone oil, e.g., from a hydrophobic surface such as an intraocular lens, or from an aqueous environment.
