Abstract: A system that performs a method is disclosed. At a first time, characteristics about an area surrounding a vehicle are determined using a first sensing grid including first sensing cells of a first size. At a second time, after the first time, whether sensing cell size data satisfies sensing cell size change criteria is determined. In response to the determination: in accordance with a determination that the sensing cell size data satisfies the sensing cell size change criteria, characteristics about the area surrounding the vehicle are determined using a second sensing grid including second sensing cells of a second size, different from the first size. In accordance with a determination that the sensing cell size data does not satisfy the sensing cell size change criteria, characteristics about the area surrounding the vehicle are determined using the first sensing grid including the first sensing cells of the first size.

Abstract: Systems and methods for redundant circuit disconnection in electric vehicles are disclosed. Systems can include a resistive metallic fuse connected within an electrical circuit for a battery or otherwise, an inductor comprising a coil of at least one turn of wire about a longitudinal axis, and an AC power source configured to provide an alternating current across the inductor. The resistive metallic fuse may be disposed within the inductor along the longitudinal axis, and the AC power source may be configured to cause the inductor to induce within the resistive metallic fuse eddy currents of sufficient magnitude to melt or vaporize at least a portion of the resistive metallic fuse disposed therein.

Abstract: The present invention is generally directed to methods and systems of estimating visibility around a vehicle and automatically configuring one or more systems in response to the visibility level. The visibility level can be estimated by comparing two images of the vehicle's surroundings, each taken from a different perspective. Distance of objects in the images can be estimated based on the disparity between the two images, and the visibility level (e.g., a distance) can be estimated based on the farthest object that is visible in the images.

Abstract: In embodiments of the disclosure, location information can be used to automatically set a parking meter time reminder on a user's mobile device. For example, after determining that the user has parked once a destination has been reached, the user's location can be used to determine if the vehicle has been parked at a parking meter (or other timed parking), and a reminder can be set based on a time limit associated with that parking location. The reminder can display periodic notifications on the user's mobile device until it is detected that the user has driven the vehicle away from the parking spot.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for improving acceleration performance of an electric vehicle that includes an electric motor for propulsion. An exemplary system may include an inverter configured to drive the electric motor. The inverter may include at least one power electronic device. The system may also include a torque capability controller. The torque capability controller may be configured to receive information indicative of a selection between a first mode and a second mode. The second mode may correspond to a higher torque to be output by the electric motor than the first mode. The torque capability controller may also be configured to apply a switching frequency to the at least one power electronic device. The switching frequency may have a lower value when the received information indicates the selection of the second mode than when the received information indicates the selection of the first mode.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure can provide for secure communication in a vehicle network by distinguishing among communications at different layers of the vehicle network and using different security levels depending on the network layer. For example, a communication between different electronic control units (ECUs) in the same domain (e.g., two ECUs in the powertrain domain) may not need as much as security as a communication that originates from an ECU in a different domain (e.g., the chassis domain) or from a device outside the vehicle. This can allow for increased security where compromise is a greater possibility, such as when communications originate from outside the vehicle, and decreased security where comprise is a lesser possibility and performance is a greater concern, such as communications between ECUs within the vehicle and/or in the same domain.

Systems can include a microcontroller and a transceiver configured to send transmit data to the communication bus, receive data from the communication bus, and send data received from the communication bus to the microcontroller. Abstract: Circuits and methods for driving a load are disclosed. An exemplary driving circuit may include first and second switching devices electrically connected with each other in parallel. The driving circuit may also include a current sensing circuit configured to generate a current sensing signal indicating a value of a current flowing through the first switching device. The current sensing signal may include an offset caused by parasitic inductance imbalance in electrical connections connecting the first and second switching devices. The driving circuit may further include a driver circuit configured to control switching operations of the first and second switching devices. The driver circuit may include an overcurrent protection circuit electrically connected to the current sensing circuit. In addition, the driving circuit may include a current sensing signal correction circuit configured to reduce the offset in the current sensing signal received by the overcurrent protection circuit during a switching transient period.
