The first disk cartridge including a first case having a substantially rectangular shape with first, second, third and fourth edges, the first edge of the case being delimited by a first corner portion connecting the first edge and second edge and a second corner portion connecting the first edge and the third edge. The first case has a first groove at a side plane of both of the second and third edges. The first case also has a first cutout portion at both of the second and the third edges and extending in a direction of and passing through the thickness of the first case. The second disk cartridge includes a second case with a substantially rectangular shape with fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth edges, the fifth edge of the second case being delimited by a fifth corner portion connecting the fifth edge and sixth edge and a sixth corner portion connecting the fifth edge and the seventh edge. The second case has a second groove at a side plane of only one of the sixth and seventh edge. The second case also has a second cutout portion at both of the sixth and the seventh edges extending in a direction of the thickness of the second case without passing through the thickness of the second case. A length, width and thickness of the first case are substantially equal to a length, width and thickness of the second case.
Abstract:
An IC card automated transaction terminal is provided to operate in conjunction with an IC card capable of storing a plurality of different balances relating to commercial transactions. For example, the IC card can provide separate storage for electronic money information and bonus point information. IC card reading/writing means are provided in the terminal for reading and writing such information stored in said IC card along with input means for inputting transacted sum information and information storage means for storing electronic money information equivalent to transacted sum information. In another embodiment, small sum and large sum balances can be separately stored on the IC card, with only the large sum balance being locked and requiring a security code to carry out a transaction.
Abstract:
The capnometer of the invention is an equipment which detects a signal which time-varies in accordance with a carbon dioxide concentration from a respiration gas, thereby calculating the carbon dioxide concentration. The capnometer has: carbon dioxide concentration calculating device for detecting the maximum value for each expiration from a concentration signal corresponding to the calculated carbon dioxide concentration, for comparing the maximum value with concentration signals respectively corresponding to a plurality of predetermined concentration ranges, and for outputting one of different control signals for the concentration ranges; and reporting device for outputting a sound corresponding to the carbon dioxide concentration, in accordance with the control signal.
Abstract:
A system for crystallization of polymers involving the use of a stationary housing with a rotor mounted for rotation within the housing. The rotor supports a plurality of spaced apart hollow discs and heated fluid is delivered to the interior of the discs. The polymer material to be treated is fed into the housing for heat exchange contact with the exterior surfaces of the discs. The rotation of the discs in addition serves as the propelling force for the material along the length of the housing at which point the material is discharged. The speed of rotation of the rotor is controlled to influence agitation and conveying of material in the housing to thereby control the crystallization reaction. A holdup mechanism which operates independently of the speed control is located adjacent the discharge location to contribute to the fixing of the residence time. The material inlet operation, discharge operation and residence control are such that the ratio of crystallized to uncrystallized material is maintained within desired limits, typically at about 4 to 1. The method and apparatus provides various other operating parameters and structural features which maximize the efficiency of the crystallization reaction.
Abstract:
A system for treating flowable materials wherein an elongated cylindrical housing is provided with an inlet for introducing material to the housing at one end thereof. An inner wall surface is defined by the housing and the temperature of the inner wall surface is controlled for heat exchange between the material and the surface. An outlet for the material is provided at the other end of the housing, and an agitator extends within, and at least partially along the length of, the housing for rotation within the housing. The agitator comprises a plurality of paddles extending from adjacent the axis of rotation of the agitator toward the inner wall surface, the paddles being positioned in spaced apart locations over at least a portion of the length of the inner wall surface whereby rotation of the agitator results in the moving of the material around the inner wall surface and the propelling of the material from the inlet to the outlet. A plurality of nozzles are associated with the agitator, and gas is supplied to the nozzles and directed from the nozzles into contact with the material. This action serves to spread the material over the inner wall surface for thereby maximizing the extent of contact between the material and the surface, and for otherwise maximizing the efficiency of the material treatment.
Abstract:
A rotary knife assembly includes a rotary shaft, a flange, a rotary knife of an annular shape and a resilient member. The flange includes a radially-outwardly protruding flange portion having opposite end faces and a reduced diameter portion disposed adjacent to the flange portion. The rotary knife has opposite faces and is fitted on the reduced-diameter portion of the flange with one of the opposite faces directed toward one of the opposite end faces of the flange portion. The resilient member is mounted on the flange for urging the rotary knife toward the flange portion. There is also provided a shifting mechanism mounted on the flange for shifting the rotary knife in a direction away from the flange portion against the urging force of the resilient member.

Abstract:
A digital information recording and reproducing method for significantly improving the transfer rate of digital information, comprises the steps of: forming a plurality of light beam guide tracks on a recording medium capable of multiple light-wavelength recording, the tracks being spaced apart by a predetermined pitch and each of the tracks comprising a series of pre-pits disposed in a scan direction and spaced apart by an interval longer than the diameter of a spot of a light beam for use in recording and reproducing; and recording and reproducing an information bit by changing the light beam to have a different wavelength predetermined n times in a predetermined order while the light beam is scanned by one interval of the pre-pits.

An oxygen mask can include an oxygen supply unit and an attachment unit which is to be attached to a periphery of a nose or a nose and a mouth of a patient. The attachment unit includes an opening which communicates with external air and which is formed at a position to which, when the oxygen mask is attached to the patient, at least one of the nose and the mouth of the patient is opposed.
Abstract:
An imaging apparatus can be connected to a 3D adapter having an optical system capable of condensing light for forming an image for a left-eye and light for forming an image for a right-eye and can be set into an adjusting mode for adjusting the optical system. The imaging apparatus includes an image pickup unit operable to capture an image formed based on the lights condensed by the 3D adapter, and a display unit operable to display the image captured by the image pickup unit. When the imaging apparatus is set to the adjusting mode, the display unit overlaps and displays the image for a left-eye and the right-eye image captured by the image pickup unit.
