Abstract:
An apparatus (10) for controlling the road speed of a motor vehicle has an accelerator pedal (12), which is biased counter to its actuating direction into an inoperative position and is movable from the inoperative position into a neutral position, from which a further movement of the accelerator pedal (12) counter to the spring bias leads to an increase of the drive torque of the motor vehicle drive. A device for detecting the inoperative position of the accelerator pedal (12) is connected to a braking-force generator (40) and in the inoperative position of the accelerator pedal (12) causes the braking-force generator (40) to make a predetermined braking force available. In order to make the apparatus (10) more comfortable, according to an alternative the braking-force generator (40) builds up the predetermined braking force in a controlled manner when the accelerator pedal (12) attains its inoperative position, and/or reduces the built-up braking force in a controlled manner when the accelerator pedal (12) leaves its inoperative position. According to another alternative, the device for detecting the inoperative position of the accelerator pedal (12), upon a movement of the accelerator pedal (12) from the inoperative position into the neutral position, causes the braking-force generator (40) to reduce the predetermined braking force in accordance with the accelerator pedal movement and vice versa.
Abstract:
A hatchback lid for a motor vehicle with a top and a bottom hatchback lid part (5, 6) displaceably mounted in relation to each other. The top hatchback lid part (5) is jointed with the bottom hatchback lid part (6) in such a way that the two hatchback lid parts (5, 6) can be folded together into a completely open position.
Abstract:
In an apparatus for EMC testing of electrical devices, conductors are arranged at opposite sides of a chamber of conductive material at a spacing from and parallel to the chamber walls. These conductors form a symmetrical double line and are fed out of phase at one end by a radio frequency source. They are electrically connected to the chamber walls at the other end via terminating impedances.
Abstract:
An apparatus for reconstructing railway track systems while simultaneously clearing away the bed of the old track system. A sliding seal driver is used to secure the trench formed by the removal of the old track foundation as the old track is cleared away. A new trench is cut as the apparatus proceeds on the same path as the old track. The seal driver includes lateral shields securing the trench walls as well as ground shields resting on the bottom of the trench. The lateral shields are of such lengths to secure the trench walls over the entire work area.
Abstract:
The invention contemplates scanning-microscope display of plural observed parameters of an examined specimen, where the parameters derive from flying-spot light-exposure of the specimen, and where at least one of the observed parameters is outside the wavelength range of the flying-spot. In some illustrative embodiments, at least one of the observed parameters is sensed by a detector which uses the same scanning optics as the flying-spot, and in other embodiments other techniques of synchronization are involved. The disclosed embodiments also provide for selective arrest of scanning to enable such factors as fading fluorescence and spectrum analysis to be ascertained strictly for a surface occlusion, impurity or other anomaly of interest.
Abstract:
This invention relates to solutions of silanols prepared by hydrolysis of alkyltrialkoxysilanes whose alkoxy groups are partially or completely hydrolyzed.Preferred hydrolyzed alkyltrialkoxysilanes are of the formula CH.sub.3 --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --Si(OH).sub.n (OH').sub.3-n.
Abstract:
A cover for containers made of stiffened deformable material, for example from cardboard, has an annular rim and a plate having a depending flange. The rim has an upper portion, an intermediate portion and a lower portion. The depending flange is positioned adjacent to the intermediate portion. The lower portion is folded around the lower edge of the depending flange and pressed thereto. A three-layer structure of the downwardly extended lower rim insertable into the container provides a highly rigid cover.
Abstract:
In a cabin for trucks with trailer-fixtures, a first sleeping-berth is arranged behind and between the seats on the rear wall of the cabin pivotally about a horizontal pin. A second sleeping-berth is provided, that is conveyable from an operational position next to the first sleeping-berth to a horizontal storing position above the first sleeping-berth. A linkage for moving the second berth comprises two cantilevers that are pivotally fixed to the cabin about a horizontal pin and hold the second sleeping-berth at the lateral sides thereof.
Abstract:
A polymer having as a component thereof a moiety corresponding to a monomer having the following formula ##STR1## wherein n=0 or 1, X is bromine, chlorine or a mixture thereof and R represents hydrogen or methyl, a method of preparing the same and the use of such a polymer, including a copolymer thereof in a plastic composition containing a normally flammable plastic.
Abstract:
A composite cup, including an inner container of thermoplastic material bonded to an outer container of fibrous material, is provided with a rounded lip which tends to stay tightly rolled after formation, thereby strengthening the cup and facilitating the placement of a lid on the cup. After forming the cup, the inner thermoplastic material is trimmed off beyond the edge of the outer fibrous material. The projecting thermoplastic material tends to overlap the fibrous material and impede the absorption of moisture by the cut edge of the fibrous material. After the rolled edge of the cup is formed, shrinkage forces in the projecting thermoplastic material help to retain the edge of the cup in a tightly rolled configuration.
