摘要: Notch filter coatings for use in sunscreen applications are provided herein. An exemplary composition includes multiple zinc oxide particles suspended within a medium forming sunscreen composition; and a combination of multiple notch filter coating materials individually applied as a distinct layer to each of the multiple zinc oxide particles to create a multi-layered structure surrounding each of the multiple zinc oxide particles within the sunscreen composition, wherein the multi-layered structure: reflects light at a user-determined wavelength range based on the wavelength range at which each of the multiple notch filter coating materials reflects light; and allows wavelengths of light (i) within at least a portion of the ultraviolet spectrum and (ii) outside of the user-determined wavelength range to be absorbed by the multiple zinc oxide particles.

摘要: A method of producing a dried formulation for an active substance such as a drug compound is described. The method involves dispersing a discontinuous phase (e.g. an oil-based or lipidic medium) comprising the active substance into a continuous phase (e.g. water) so as to form a two-phase liquid system comprising droplets of said discontinuous phase, allowing nanoparticles to congregate at the phase interface at the surface of the droplets such that at least one layer of nanoparticles coat the droplets and thereby provide sufficient structural integrity to the droplets to enable the subsequent removal of the continuous phase, and thereafter removing the continuous phase from the nanoparticle-coated droplets to produce a dried formulation.

摘要: The invention generally relates to fluorescent particles and more specifically to silica-based fluorescent nanoporous particles with physically encapsulated organic dyes. In one aspect of the invention, the nanoporous architecture provides a significant enhancement in fluorescence of the particles brightness compared to free dye. A particular chemical control of the silica matrix prevents the dye molecules from leaking the particles.

摘要: A photoactive coumarin monomer includes a substituted coumarin molecule that has at least two functional groups may be used to produce a polymer with a coumarin unit or a coumarin derivative unit as part of the polymer backbone. The polymer with a coumarin unit or a coumarin derivative unit as part of the polymer backbone may be photoresponsive and/or bioabsorbable. Photoresponsive polymers with a coumarin unit or a coumarin derivative unit as part of the polymer backbone may crosslink when irradiated at a wavelength of about 320 nm to about 420 nm. The crosslink may be separated when the polymers are irradiated at a wavelength of about 230 nm to about 300. The polymers may also photocleave when irradiated with light at a wavelength of about 230 nm to about 300.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing solid round emulsion beads by dropping liquid emulsion into a cryogenic freezing refrigerant. The obtained solid round emulsion beads can be stored and used at a low temperature. The solid round emulsion beads can be coated with a solution containing a composition which is solid at room temperature or which can form gel. The emulsion beads can be prepared by using liquid emulsion containing additional composition, which is solid at room temperature or can form gel, in the water phase of oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion or the oil phase of oil-in-water (W/O) emulsion. The emulsion beads prepared by the present invention can maintain its shape without swelling and/or damage but with stability and does not give any grainy feeling when the liquid emulsion was applied on the skin.

摘要: Methods and compositions for producing hydrogel capsules enveloped with at least one coating layer is disclosed. The coating formulations deposited on the surface of the capsules can improve the physical integrity and the water-retention properties of the alginate beads. The coating formulations can be sequentially applied in various combinations to obtain desirable properties, such as improved physical integrity, mechanical strength, and low permeability, that can extend the shelf-life of the capsules when incorporated into various consumer products.
