Abstract:
A method for removing oil from a physical object comprises the steps: i) bringing said physical object in contact with an oil removal composition, said oil removal composition comprising a) a surfactant having the general formula: R1-X—R2, wherein R1 is an open chain sugar alcohol, wherein X is one selected from NH, NCH3 and NCH2CH3, and wherein R2 is an aliphatic or aromatic group comprising at least 5 carbon atoms, and b) water, ii) leaving said oil removal composition in contact with said physical object for a period of time sufficient for most of said oil to be dispersed in said oil removal composition, High recovery of oil/bitumen from tar sands can be achieved. The composition is renewable, degradable and inexpensive. An extremely efficient de-greater is provided. The composition used in both bitumen recovery and degreasing is easily reusable and recycleable. The starting materials of the surfactant are renewable and inexpensive. The composition is non-toxic and biodegradable.
Abstract:
An aqueous aerosol bathroom cleaner includes a surfactant, a water-soluble or dispersible organic solvent, a chelating agent and a propellant that comprises n-butane. Comparative data demonstrate that the presence of n-butane in the composition enhances the rate of bathroom soap scum removal relative to aerosol compositions that do not contain n-butane in the propellant. The amount of surfactant present is sufficient so that the composition, develops a stable foam upon being dispensed onto a soiled bathroom hard surface. The foam collapses after 10 to 60 seconds to deliver the cleaning components onto the surface.
Abstract:
The present invention aims to provide a liquid cleansing composition showing a good amount of lather and superior in a moist feeling after washing. The present inventors have found that the above-mentioned problem can be solved by combining particular alkenoic acid or a salt thereof with a sugar type surfactant and/or a sulfate type surfactant.
Abstract:
The invention includes a solid rinse aid that is particularly designed for pressed or extrusion solid formation and which is effective for spotless surfaces after rinsing, especially rinsing metals without corrosion. According to the invention, a solid acid is combined with a short-chain alkylbenzene and alkyl naphthalene sulfonate. The short-chain alkylbenzene and alkyl naphthalene sulfonate act as a solidification agent as well as a hydrotrope, and total dissolved solid (TDS) active and are combined with at least one nonionic low foaming surfactant.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a low VOC hard surface cleaning composition comprising a surfactant, a glycol ether organic solvent, an aminoalcohol and fragrance, having a pH from 10.0 to 12.0. The present invention further encompasses a process to prepare a low VOC hard surface cleaning composition. Furthermore, the present invention encompasses a process of cleaning a hard surface with a low VOC hard surface cleaning composition.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed, in certain embodiments, to compositions useful for the removal of grease, lime scale, soap scum, feces, rust or other soils from surfaces such as those found in bathrooms, toilets and kitchens. Methods of removing soils and preventing soil adhesion are also contemplated.
Abstract:
Fatty amine compositions made from a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid, octadecene-1,18-dioic acid, or their ester derivatives are disclosed. In another aspect, fatty amidoamines made by reacting a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid, octadecene-1,18-dioic acid, or their ester derivatives with an aminoalkyl-substituted tertiary amine are disclosed. The fatty amines or amidoamines are advantageously sulfonated, sulfitated, oxidized, or reduced. In other aspects, the ester derivative is a modified triglyceride made by self-metathesis of a natural oil or an unsaturated triglyceride made by cross-metathesis of a natural oil with an olefin.
Abstract:
This invention provides a cleaning composition comprising a certain amount or more of an acylamino acid type surfactant, and further a non-ionic surfactant and a betaine-type ampholytic surfactant, which has a sufficient viscosity and exerts excellent conditioning effects.
