Abstract: A method for renewing an IP address includes: obtaining, by a controller, DHCP address information from a client, where the DHCP address information includes an IP address of the client, a MAC address of the client, and an address of a DHCP server that assigns the IP address to the client; and when the controller determines that the client is powered off, sending, by the controller by using the address of the DHCP server, an IP renewal request including the IP address and the MAC address to the DHCP server to renew the IP address, until the client registers with the controller. Therefore, the client can use a same IP address every time the client is powered on, and service configurations related to the IP address on the client are continuously effective and do not need to be changed.

Abstract: A novel design of a gateway that handles traffic in and out of a network by using a datapath pipeline is provided. The datapath pipeline includes multiple stages for performing various data-plane packet-processing operations at the edge of the network. The processing stages include centralized routing stages and distributed routing stages. The processing stages can include service-providing stages such as NAT and firewall. The gateway caches the result previous packet operations and reapplies the result to subsequent packets that meet certain criteria. For packets that do not have applicable or valid result from previous packet processing operations, the gateway datapath daemon executes the pipelined packet processing stages and records a set of data from each stage of the pipeline and synthesizes those data into a cache entry for subsequent packets.

The one or more processors are configured to detect a device identifier of a user device on a local area network of a hospitality establishment, determine whether a guest of the hospitality establishment is associated with the device identifier, and automatically activate a service for the user device at the hospitality establishment in response to detecting the device identifier on the local area network when a guest of the hospitality establishment is determined to be associated with the device identifier.

Abstract: Hashing name resolution requests may be performed according to an identified routing policy. A query from a Domain Name System (DNS) resolver to lookup a name in a first collection of name records may be received. A hash function may be applied to the name to generate a hash value according to a routing policy for the first collection of name records that determines which name record in the first collection of name records is used to answer the query. A name record in the collection of name records may be identified according to a mapping request for the name record using the hash value and a value for the name record may be returned to the DNS resolver. The value for the name record may identify a second collection of name records to query as part of determining the network address at the DNS resolver.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a device in a network inserts a profile tag into an address request sent by an endpoint node in the network to a lookup service. The lookup service is configured to identify one or more addresses with which the endpoint node is authorized to communicate based on a profile for the endpoint node associated with the inserted profile tag. The device receives an address response sent from the lookup service to the endpoint node that indicates the set of one or more addresses with which the endpoint node is authorized to communicate. The device determines whether a communication between the endpoint node and a particular network address is authorized using the set of one or more addresses with which the endpoint node is authorized to communicate. The device blocks the communication based on a determination that the particular network address is not in the set of one or more addresses with which the endpoint node is authorized to communicate.

Abstract: A method of routing a packet in a network is described. The network includes a plurality of nodes implementing Information Centric Networking (ICN) routing or content centric networking and routing. The method includes receiving the packet at a node implementing ICN routing, the packet comprising an Internet Protocol (IP) header and a packet payload, wherein the packet comprises a request packet for requesting content from the network. The method further includes extracting from the packet payload a content identifier for the requested content and forwarding the packet to a next hop node in the network based on the content identifier extracted from the packet payload.

Abstract: This application discloses a network communication method applied to a network communication system including a first network device in a first private network, a second network device in a second private network and a gateway device coupling the first private network to the second private network. The first network device receives a first data packet transmitted from a terminal to a target blockchain node, and acquires an actual network address of the target blockchain node; and generates a second data packet according to the first data packet and the actual network address, and transmits the second data packet to a virtual network address of the second network device in the second private network, so that the operation overheads generated when the gateway device generates virtual network addresses for blockchain nodes can be reduced, thereby saving a storage space of the gateway device.

One or more network nodes may be configured to execute a MASQUE proxy service to provide a remote client device with full access to an enterprise/private application resource executing on an application node and hosted in an enterprise/application network, behind the MASQUE proxy service. In some examples, the MASQUE proxy service may execute on a single proxy node hosted at an edge of a cloud network or at an edge of an enterprise network. Additionally, or alternatively, a first instance of the MASQUE proxy service may execute on a first proxy node hosted at an edge of a cloud network (e.g., an ingress proxy node) and a second instance of the MASQUE proxy service may execute on a second proxy node hosted at an edge of the enterprise network.

Abstract: This application provides a packet processing method and a network device. A third network device is multi-homed to a first network device and a second network device, the first network device is configured with a first physical MAC address and a virtual MAC address, the second network device is configured with a second physical MAC address and the virtual MAC address, and the virtual MAC address is used to forward a user data packet to a network side. The method includes: a first network device receives a protocol packet from a third network device, where the protocol packet includes the second physical MAC address; and the first network device forwards the protocol packet to the second network device based on the second physical MAC address. Thus, the protocol packet can be normally forwarded without special configuration on a server, so that a cumbersome configuration process is avoided.
