    摘要: Encoding and decoding methods and apparatus are described to obtain auxiliary information from an audio signal. The auxiliary information uses a plurality of frequency components residing in a plurality of code bands. The audio signal is transformed into a frequency domain representation. Characteristics of frequencies of the frequency domain representation that may contain the auxiliary information are determined. The characteristics of frequencies of the frequency domain representation in a respective one of the code bands that may contain the auxiliary information are normalized across the code band. The normalization is carried out against a characteristic of a frequency in that code band. The normalized characteristics of the frequencies representative of auxiliary information are summed to determine a sum for a frequency representative of auxiliary information. It is determined when the sum is representative of the auxiliary information.

    摘要: A method for operating a system to provide temporal context for recommending items for consumption by a user device is described. The method comprises maintaining a record of items consumed by the user device or a group of devices within a reference period, together with the time of consumption of each item, and a content descriptor associated with each item. Temporal consumption periods are identified within the reference period, each consumption period spanning the consumption of one or more items with similar content descriptors, and each consumption period is associated with its respective content descriptor. An aggregated list is created of consumption periods recorded over a plurality of reference periods. Clusters of similar consumption periods are identified in the aggregated list, and recurring temporal patterns for user device behavior are identified in each cluster. A profile is created for each user device based on the clusters and the recurring temporal patterns for each cluster, and this profile is used to provide the temporal context at the user device.

    摘要: An audience measurement or personalized recommendation system may be actively trained for each panel member for a training period, during which the presence of each member is recorded while content is displayed. Panel members may carry or wear portable devices with wireless transmitters which may be detected by the measurement system. For example, each panel member may wear a wristband including a wireless transmitter broadcasting an identification code, and a measurement device may include a wireless receiver to receive broadcast identification codes and determine that the corresponding one or more panel members are present during display of content. An inference engine may create personalized profiles of each panel participant during the training period. After the training period, panel participants may stop carrying or wearing the devices, and the inference engine may determine, based on the profiles, which participants are likely present when content is being viewed.
