Abstract:
Novel photopolymers having as photocrosslinking radicals Alpha -substituted maleimido groups of the formula:
wherein Ar stands for a cyclic group of aromaticity and R1 for a hydrogen atom or cyano group. These photopolymers can be produced by introducing the Alpha -substituted maleimido groups into a backbone molecular chain of a linear polymer or copolymer according to a reaction known per se, such as amidation, imidation, esterification, quaternization or nuclear substitution.
Abstract:
The present invention comprises a system for and method of operation of a metal-air secondary battery of an electrolyte circulation type comprising a charging circulation system including an electrolyte tank with a large capacity detachably connectable by a pair of pipe connectors to the apparatus and a discharging circulation system with a small capacity, these two circulation systems being alternatively changed over by means of a two-circuit three-way cock. In a charging mode, the body of a metal-air secondary battery is connected to said tank which is usually installed in a charging station so that an active metal may be efficiently electrodeposited using an ordinary circulation method, and in a discharging mode, the tank is detached and the battery is connected to the discharging circulation system so that a minimum quantity of electrolyte, necessary for discharging, may be circulated. Therefore, the system of the present invention is advantageous in that the weight and capacity size of a power supply are reduced by half as compared with those of conventional systems, with the result of an improved ratio of energy to weight and size, and is extremely useful when used in a vehicle borne metal air battery, for example, an air zinc battery for an electric automobile.
Abstract:
Spherical aggregates each having ribbon-shaped crystals of xonotlite intertwined is produced by hydrothermally reacting a slurry of silicic acid, and lime and spraying the resultant suspension under conditions of high temperature and pressure. A shaped article are produced by mixing the said spherical aggregates with a biding agent, shaping the resultant mixture to form, pressurizing the shaped mixture and drying the compressed shaped mixture.
Abstract:
An apparatus for continuously grinding a multiplicity of cylindrical workpieces required to be concentrically ground with reference to their axes. The apparatus comprises an upper elastic feed belt adapted to push downwardly and roll the cylindrical workpieces around their axes on a rolling table and a lower grinding belt adapted to be moved at a high rate of speed so as to grind the rolling surfaces of said cylindrical workpieces.
Abstract:
The automatic transmission for electric automobiles comprises an input shaft extending from a vehicle driving motor and an output shaft connected to the input shaft via planetary gearing provided with a clutch assembly for effecting gear changes. The speed change controlling device adapted in the transmission comprises a hydraulic circuit having a change-over valve designed to switch the oil passage by connection or disconnection of power to a solenoid valve to supply pressurized, operating oil to the clutch, an electric control circuit including a transistor for changing the field current of the vehicle driving motor, a comparison circuit for comparing the field current with a reference voltage, and the rotational frequency of the motor with that of the output shaft which may or may not be multiplied by the gear ratio, an oil pressure detector device for detecting oil pressure in the clutch, a circuit for generating a pulse for changing the normal condition of the transistor, and a logic element connected between the pulse generating circuit and the solenoid valve, whereby smooth speed changing operation is effected.
Abstract:
Aromatic bis-acrylic derivatives of the formula:
WHEREIN Y1 and Y2 each represent a
GROUP, AND R and X are each a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; a process for their preparation, and photosensitive ccompositions comprising such derivatives in admixture with linear polyamides in molar ratios of 2:1-1:100.
Abstract:
A sliding member having threads of solid lubricant embedded in a densely distributed state is obtained by drilling or casting a multiplicity of parallel holes into a metal blank through one terminal face thereof, filling the holes with a solid lubricant and elongating the lubricant-containing metal block in the direction of said holes by means of a rolling machine.
Abstract:
Aromatic hydrocarbons such as, for example, trifluoromethyl benzonitrile and bis-(trifluoromethyl)-benzonitrile which are composed of benzene derivatives having nitrile and trihalogenated methyl substituted for hydrogens of benzene are dissolved in anhydrous hydrogen fluoride and the solutions are electrolyzed to produce perfluoro-alicyclic hydrocarbons composed of perfluorocyclohexane derivatives having trifluoromethyl substituted for fluorine of perfluorocyclohexane.
Abstract:
Hydrogen is produced from hydrogen sulfide by using, as a catalyst, the sulfide of a metal selected from the class consisting of transition metals of Group V such as vanadium, of Group IV such as molybdenum, tungsten and chromium and of group VIII such as iron, cobalt, nickel, palladium and rhodium of the Periodic Table of the Elements. When hydrogen sulfide is supplied to a reaction system using therein the said catalyst, it is separated into hydrogen and sulfur and the sulfur thus separated is deposited and accumulated on the catalyst. Regeneration of the catalyst is accomplished by causing carbon monoxide or nitrogen monoxide to react on the deposited sulfur so that the sulfur is removed from the catalyst in the form of carbonyl sulfide or nitrogen oxysulfide.
