Abstract:
A power plant with a fossil fuel fired boiler, an air feed system, flue gas system and condensate system. A unitary flue gas heat exchanger spans a bypass line in the flue gas system and the condensate system so as to improve the thermal efficiency of the power plant while minimising complexity.
Abstract:
A control system for at least one of steam turbines, gas turbines or power plants includes a sensor system configured to monitor predefined operating parameters, the sensor system including redundant sensors. A central processor arrangement of the control system has an input side configured to receive measurement data from the sensor system and an output side configured to communicate with operation control elements of the turbines or power plants. A sensor side processor circuit is assigned at least to the redundant sensors, the processor circuit being configured to continuously check the sensors for error-free operation, to protect or block the input side of the central processor arrangement from erroneous signals, and to only respectively forward or further process signals from a sensor that has been identified as error-free in one channel.
Abstract:
A gas cleaning unit for cleaning an effluent gas of at least one aluminium production electrolytic cell comprises a contact reactor in which the effluent gas is brought into contact with alumina, and a dust removal device for removing at least a portion of the alumina. The gas cleaning unit further comprises a wet scrubber in which the effluent gas is brought into contact with an absorption liquid containing water for removing further pollutants from the effluent gas. The wet scrubber is positioned at a point vertically higher than that of the dust removal device.
Abstract:
A concentrated solar tower assembly includes a hollow tower structure defining lower and upper portions. The lower portion includes a closable opening region for configuring a closable opening, and the upper portion includes a top gird having inner and outer top grids. The assembly further includes a solar receiver steam generator entirely installed at the ground level G on the inner top grid simultaneous to erection of the tower. The generator on the inner top grid is slidingly directed within the tower from the closable opening to be entirely accommodated therewithin. Thereafter, the generator on the inner top grid is lifted for being placed along the upper portion of the tower.
Abstract:
A tool for shaping generator bars for large power generators. In particular, a tool for shaping a stator bar out of a straight unprocessed bar.
Abstract:
A semiconductor switching circuit includes a main current branch which includes at least one main semiconductor switching element and through which current flows in a first direction when the or each main semiconductor switching element is switched on. The semiconductor switching circuit also includes an auxiliary current branch that is connected in parallel with the main current branch. The auxiliary current branch includes at least one auxiliary semiconductor switching element. One or more control units are configured to switch on the or each auxiliary semiconductor switching element as the or each main semiconductor switching element is switched on to selectively create an alternative current path via the auxiliary current branch whereby current flowing in the first direction through the main current branch is diverted instead to flow through the alternative current path to reduce the rate of change of current flowing through the or each main semiconductor switching element.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to a tool and a method for shaping a conductor bar for an electric machine and a use of such a tool. Disclosed is a tool for shaping a conductor bar for an electric machine, with a hammer or a movable wheel supported by arms, the hammer or the movable wheel are suitable for engaging and exerting force to the conductor bar to modify the height h and/or the surface structure of the conductor bar, whereas the hammer conducts a bidirectional movement in the axial direction of the tool, whereas the wheel conducts a bidirectional movement in the axial direction of the tool and/or a rotating movement, whereas the tool applies heat to the conductor bar by friction of the hammer or the movable wheel. It is one advantage of the invention that the method and the tool do not remove any material from the conductor bar.
Abstract:
A Helmholtz damper, especially for damping pulsations in a combustor of a gas turbine, including a damper volume, which can be connected to a damped space by means of a neck tube. The Helmholtz damper further includes a piston, which is moveable within the damper volume and divides the damper volume into a variable first part (V1) on one side of said piston. The variable first part (V1) is connected to the neck tube, and a correspondingly variable second part (V2) on the other side of said piston. The control mechanism is substantially simplified in a more compact design by the piston being driven by a pressure drop (Δp) between the first and second part (V1, V2) of the damper volume.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a system and a method for combustion of solid fuels. The combustion system includes burners which supply a mixed flow of fuel and air through a fuel nozzle to the combustion chamber for example of a boiler. The mixed flow of fuel and primary air is supplied to the burner through a duct from a pulverizer where the fuel is grinded to the required finesse. The duct further bends in such a way that one portion is vertical with respect parallel to axis of the boiler 1 A-A is vertical duct and other portion is horizontal duct which is parallel to axis B-B of the fuel nozzle.
Abstract:
A combustion apparatus includes a combustion chamber having multiple combustion zones. A first wind box is in communication with the first combustion zone to feed the fuel to be fed into the combustion chamber for initial combustion of the fuel within the first combustion zone. A second wind box has a reburner in communication with the second combustion zone. The reburner is configured to feed fuel, a reagent and a first portion of the flue gas to be recycled to the second combustion zone into the second combustion zone to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions of the apparatus. A third wind box is in communication with the third combustion zone to feed air to the third combustion zone to complete the combustion process.
