An apparatus and method for measuring the quality of a signal on an optical disc based on level information of a viterbi decoder are provided. The signal quality measuring apparatus includes: a binary unit that generates binary signals from input RF signals; a channel identifier that receives the input RF signals and the binary signals output from the binary unit and outputs reference level values corresponding to the binary signals; and an information calculator that receives the reference level values and detects a signal quality value.

The present invention relates to a method for providing information for power management of devices connected to a network. The present method creates a PM (Power Management) server list which includes, for at least one PM server, a pair of friendly names including a friendly name allocated to the PM server, and displays, for the at least one PM server, the other friendly name of the pair of friendly names, i.e., a friendly name allocated to an AV media server or an AV device instead of one friendly name allocated to the PM server in the event that information included in the created PM server list is provided to a user.

A semiconductor memory device used in a multiprocessor system is configured to perform a partial refresh operation based on the state of an access port instead of performing a refresh operation per memory bank via a bank address. The multiprocessor system includes a plurality of processors and the memory device includes a memory cell array and a plurality of ports correspondingly connected to the plurality of processors. The memory cell array includes a plurality of memory areas having predetermined memory capacity. Each of the plurality of memory areas is assigned to at least one of the plurality of ports. Each of the plurality of memory areas is accessed by any one of at least one corresponding processors through a corresponding port. A refresh controller is disposed between the plurality of ports and the plurality of memory areas and is configured to refresh at least one memory area assigned to a port connected to a processor which is in a predetermined operating mode.

The present invention relates to methods and pharmaceutical compositions for treating obesity or obesity-related disorders in a subject suffering from or predisposed to developing obesity or an obesity-related disorder, or for inhibiting the infectivity of HIV, by administering oleuropein, an analogue or derivative thereof, or the major metabolites of oleuropein including oleuropein aglycone, hydroxytyrosol, and elenolic acid or their analogues, or derivatives thereof, an iridoid glycoside, or a secoiridoid glycoside or analogues or derivatives thereof, or any combination of the foregoing including olive leave extract. The invention also relates to methods for screening/diagnosing a subject having, or predisposed to having obesity or a related disorder by measuring the expression profiles of an adipogenic gene selected from PPARγ2, LPL and αP2 gene and gene product, or other adipogenic, lipogenic, or lipolytic genes and gene products in an individual. The invention further provides for screening for novel oleuropein analogues.

For PWM (pulse width modulation), a counter generates a count signal by counting a clock signal 2n times for one period of the count signal. A PWM circuit generates a PWM signal from an n-bit pulse code modulation (PCM) data. The PWM signal includes a first pulse and a second pulse that are symmetric within one period of the count signal for positive and negative values of the n-bit PCM data. A same pulse width for the first and second pulses is determined by a respective value of each bit of the n-bit PCM data excluding the most and least significant bits of the n-bit PCM data.

The effective screen has a horizontal and vertical ratio of 16:9; and the panel satisfies a condition: [(Δy/d)×100)≦5.65, wherein d is length from a central point G to a diagonal vertex E of the effective screen, and Δy is length from a point H to an intersection point of the outline of the panel and the shorter axis Y, the point H being intersection of shorter axis Y and a longer side of the effective screen.

A color selection apparatus for a cathode ray tube includes a tension mask including a plurality of electron beam passage apertures; and a frame including a pair of support members provided along opposite sides of the tension mask and applying a tensile force to the mask, and a pair of elastic members extending from one support member to the other at ends of the same, the elastic members maintaining a predetermined distance between the support members. Each of the elastic members is hollow and includes a base that is substantially parallel to the tension mask, with extensions formed substantially perpendicular to the base at both ends thereof, and bending portions integrally formed between the base and the extensions. Reinforcing elements are formed in proximity to the bending portions to increase the strength of the elastic members in the area of the bending portions.

Disclosed herein is a keypad assembly with supplementary buttons and method for operating the same. The keypad assembly with supplementary buttons is in a small-sized mobile communication terminal including input buttons for representing a plurality of characters and a plurality of function buttons. The keypad assembly has at least one mode switching button, at least one selection-indication button, and a control unit. The mode switching button is formed on a side of the terminal for switching an input mode for inputting different characters. The selection-indication button is formed on a side of the terminal for selecting and indicating one of a plurality of characters assigned to each input button. The control unit selects and inputs a specific character assigned to each input button by pressing the input buttons and the selection-indication button so as to select a specific input mode by pressing the mode switching button and select and input one of a plurality of characters assigned to a specific input button under the selected input mode. The control unit displays the selected and inputted data on a display window of the terminal and stores the data.

A recording and/or reproducing apparatus and method with signal quality determining device and a method thereof, with the signal quality determining device including a signal estimator determining a level corresponding to a sample value of the RF signal using binary data obtained from the RF signal and generating a selection signal corresponding to the determined level, a channel identifier classifying the sample value into a plurality of levels according to the selection signal and obtaining an average value of the sample values classified into each level, and a quality calculator outputting a signal quality value representing quality of the RF signal using each sample value output from the channel identifier and the average value of the sample values classified into each level. Accordingly, quality of an RF signal can be determined more exactly, and focus compensation, tilt compensation, detrack compensation, and recording signal optimization can be performed using the determined signal quality.
