Abstract: Apparatus for operating MRI is disclosed. The apparatus comprises: a control for operating an MRI scanner to carry out an MRI scan; an input for receiving first and second MRI scans respectively at the beginning and end of a predetermined time interval post contrast administration; a subtraction map former for forming a subtraction map from the first and the second MRI scans by analyzing the scans to distinguish between a population in which contrast clearance from the tissue is slower than contrast accumulation, and a population in which clearance is faster than accumulation; and an output to provide an indication of distribution of the populations. The control is configured to carry out the first scan at least five minutes and no more than twenty minutes post contrast administration and to carry out the second scan such that the predetermined time period is at least twenty minutes.

Abstract: A Kramers-Kronig receiver that may include a reception path; wherein the reception path may include a photodiode that is configured to receive a received signal and output a photocurrent that represents the received signal; wherein the received signal comprises a continuous wave (CW) signal and a modulated signal; wherein a frequency gap between the CW signal and the modulated signal is smaller than a bandwidth of the modulated signal; an analog to digital converter that is configured to generate a digital representation of the photocurrent; and a digital processor that is configured to process the digital representation of the photocurrent to provide a reconstructed modulated signal, wherein the processing is based on a Kramers-Kronig relationship related to the received signal.

Abstract: An isolated muscle progenitor cell being MyoD positive, CD34 negative and CD45 negative is disclosed. The muscle progenitor cell is genetically modified to express at least one neurotrophic factor. In addition, cell populations are disclosed, comprising at least four subpopulations of muscle cells each being genetically modified to express a different neurotrophic factor, wherein said neurotrophic factor is selected from the group consisting of glial derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), insulin growth factor (IGF-1), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Uses of the cell populations are also disclosed.
