Abstract: This disclosure relates to methods and devices for mitigating overheating in a user equipment device (UE). The UE is configured to communicate over each of LTE and 5G NR and may be configured to communicate through 5G NR over each of a Sub-6 GHz and a millimeter Wave (mmW) frequency band. The UE is configured to establish an ENDC connection with an enB and one or more gNBs. The UE implements intelligent transmission modification and cell measurement adjustments to mitigate overheating and reduce battery drain.

Abstract: A client device in a wireless network accesses a queue comprising Transmission Control Protocol Acknowledgement (TCP ACK) packets, at least some of which include packet descriptors, each with a flow identifier indicating a TCP flow associated with the packet, and a TCP ACK Generation Count. The device inspects a packet descriptor of a first TCP ACK packet, and identifies a first flow identifier and a first TCP ACK Generation Count. The device accesses entries in a data structure that each includes a first field and a second field respectively storing a flow identifier and a TCP ACK Generation Count. The device determines that a first entry in the data structure includes a flow identifier and a TCP ACK Generation Count matching the first flow identifier and the first TCP ACK Generation Count, respectively. In response to the determination, the device marks the first TCP ACK packet to be dropped.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) is configured to connect to a next generation nodeB (gNB) and further UE. The UE determines that a triggering event has occurred, wherein the triggering event is based on a set of proximity services (ProSe) path selection and switching (PSS) policies, transmits a setup or update request to a direct discovery name management function (DDNMF) of a 5G core network, receives UE-specific policies based on the set of ProSe PSS policies, and switches from one of a PC5 interface or a Uu interface to another one of the PC5 interface or the Uu interface.

Abstract: A device executing a low-latency application that uses a Wi-Fi link may switch from the Wi-Fi link to using a second link to a multi-subscriber (MSIM) PHS device. The device may access, via the second link, any one of multiple cellular links, each cellular link corresponding to a different respective cellular subscription of multiple subscriptions used by the PHS device. The application executing on the device may thus use a preferred cellular link from among the multiple cellular links. The preferred cellular link may be determined based on parameters corresponding to the plurality of cellular links for each respective cellular subscription. The parameters may be obtained from a location database. The preferred cellular link (which may presently correspond to a primary subscription) on the PHS device may be switched to be a different cellular link (which may correspond to a non-primary subscription) during execution of the application on the device.

Abstract: A device and method for a user equipment (UE) to implement power savings mechanisms when operating within a significant location. The UE identifies that the UE is at a significant location. The significant location is a location relative to a currently camped cell of a network. At a first time and at the significant location, the UE performs a type of operation related to the network connection. The UE stores information corresponding to the performance of the type of operation at the first time in a profile associated with the significant location. At a second time and at the significant location, the UE performs the type of operation related to the network connection. The performance of the type of operation at the second time is modified based on the information stored in the profile associated with the significant location.

Abstract: Methods related to an inactive state of a user equipment (UE). In one example, when an amount of data in an uplink buffer is less than a threshold, the data is sent to the network while remaining in the inactive state. In another example, when reselecting to a different cell, the UE attempts to reselect to the different cell and remain in the inactive state. When transitioning to a connected state at the reselected cell, the UE sends a resume request including an identification of the first cell. In another example, when a high priority or a background PLMN search is performed in the inactive state, the results are cached and implemented the earlier of when a timer expires or the UE enters an idle state. In another example, a cell reselection criteria is altered in the inactive state to make it less likely that a cell reselection will occur.

Abstract: The present application relates to improving a roaming service. In an example, a home network of a user equipment (UE) defines a first set of UE route selection policy (URSP) rules for managing traffic of the UE when connected to the home network. While roaming, the UE is connected to a visited network. Based on the first set of URSP rules and guidance information of the visited network indicating one or more URSP rules that the visited network can support for the UE, the home network defines a second set of URSP rules for managing traffic of the UE while roaming. The home network sends, via the visited network, the second set of URSP rules to the UE as rule information for use by the UE while connected to the visited network.
