摘要: A fuel cell has a plurality of unit fuel cells and a gas manifold configured to path through the plurality of the unit fuel cells. Each of the plurality of unit fuel cells has an electrode and a separator. The separator includes in its interior a plurality of gas channels configured to communicate the gas manifold and a gas passage existing on a surface of the electrode. These gas channels include at least one gas through hole configured to open on a surface of the separator facing the electrode. The gas through holes provided on the plurality of gas channels include a first through hole group provided at a short distance from the gas manifold, and a second through hole group provided at a large distance from the gas manifold.

摘要: A diesel engine has a fuel injection nozzle to which pressurized fuel is supplied from a pump. The nozzle has a pressure sensor detecting the fuel pressure and a lift sensor sensing a lift magnitude of a needle valve. An electronic control unit (ECU) computes a variation ratio of the fuel pressure value which is measured by the pressure sensor. The ECU computes a non-increasing point in an increasing part of variation ratio and judges the point to be a timing for starting the fuel injection of the nozzle. The EPU also computes the actual fuel injection amount in accordance with the fuel injection timing as well as the fuel pressure and the lift amount of the needle valve both at the various points. The EPU controls the actual injection amount to be identical to a target fuel injection amount.

摘要: A compression ignition engine comprising a fuel injector arranged in the combustion chamber. Fuel containing oxygen is used as the fuel injected from the fuel injector to the combustion chamber. The mean air-fuel ratio in the combustion chamber is feedback controlled to a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio based on an output signal of an O.sub.2 sensor. The NOx, HC, and CO produced at this time are removed by a three-way catalyst.

A masking wall is provided for each intake valve to mask the valve opening between the valve seat and the peripheral portion of the intake valve, which is located on the exhaust valve side, for the entire time for which the intake valve is open. The exhaust valves open earlier than the intake valves, and the exhaust valves and the intake valves are closed at substantially the same time.

摘要: A swash plate type compressor having a pair of axially combined front and rear cylinder blocks forming therein a plurality of cylinder bores, a swash plate chamber, and an oil chamber in which a lubricating oil is stored to be stirred by a swash plate rotatably received in the swash plate chamber, a drive shaft centrally rotatably mounted in the combined cylinder blocks to cause a rotation of the swash plate, a plurality of reciprocatory double-headed pistons slidably fitted in the cylinder bores and operatively engaged with the swash plate via shoe members to be reciprocated by the rotation of the swash plate, a pair of thrust bearings axially supporting the swash plate, front and rear housings having suction chambers for the refrigerant gas before compression and discharge chambers for the refrigerant gas after compression, the front housing further having a shaft sealing chamber formed therein and separated from the suction chamber thereof to define an intermediate pressure chamber between the high pressure swash plate chamber and the low pressure suction chamber of the front housing, a thin fluid passageway interconnecting the shaft sealing chamber with the suction chamber. The intermediate pressure chamber and the thin fluid passageway prevent evacuation of the lubricating oil from the swash plate chamber to the suction chamber even during the rotation of the compressor at a high speed, to thereby promote a lubrication of the thrust bearings, the shoes, and the swash plate.

摘要: The present invention provides a timpiece including clock and timer sections which can be operated solely or in association with each other. When the clock and timer sections are combined with each other, the start of the timer section is controlled by an alarm signal from the clock section such that two different alarm functions can be attained. The alarm signal is preferably in the form of an alarm output or alarm pause output. The clock and timer secitons may be connected into a unit or mechanically disconnected from each other. When the clock section can be separated from the timer section, the state of connection therebetween and the life of a battery used can warningly be indicated.

摘要: A cylinder head gasket arranged between a cylinder head and a cylinder block in an internal combustion engine. The cylinder head gasket has a core web of steel with hooks arranged between facing sides of a pair of gasket plates made of a heat resistant resilient material, such as asbestos or graphite. Grommet rings are fitted to edges of openings in the web and the gasket plates aligned corresponding to the respective cylinder bores. The web has regions adjacent to the inner periphery of the aligned openings and located substantially inside of the grommet member rings, the regions containing no hooks, or containing hooks having a reduced height.
