    摘要: Disclosed herein is a method of suppressing and masking the grassy smell and acid taste characteristic of vegetables and fruits, thereby making food and drink more palatable, by adding erythritol to food and drink in their production from vegetables and fruits having a strong grassy smell and acid taste. The thus added erythritol also improves the taste of food and drink without adversely affecting the natural taste of vegetables and fruits and without increasing their sweetness. The method comprises adding to food and drink erythritol in an amount of 0.2 to 3.0 wt % of their weight.

C. on support-free shaped bodies which are arranged in a fixed bed and are composed of pressed powders of alloys of the elements of the iron sub group of sub group VIII of the Periodic Table of the Elements containing elements of sub group VI. The shaped bodies have a compressive strength of 20 to 250 N and an internal surface area of 10 to 80 m.sup.2 /g.

The invention also relates to the use of said crystalline lactitol monohydrate as a bulk sweetener for the total or partial replacement of sucrose, in dietetic products, confectionery, bakery products, cereals, desserts, jams, beverages, chocolate, chewing gum and ice-cream, and in pharmaceuticals and cosmetic products, such as tooth paste, as well as a special sweetening agent resembling sucrose, mainly composed of said crystalline lactitol monohydrate.

    摘要: A sweetener supplement compositions which provides a bioavailable source of calcium and are stable from calcium salt precipitation for at least about four hours at temperatures of at least about 85.degree. F. (29.degree. C.).
