    摘要: A transfusion device comprising a flexible vessel containing a solvent fluid, a plugged drug container containing a drug, and a communicating portion for communicating the vessel and the container with each other, the communicating portion comprising a communicating passage disposed at a top portion of the flexible vessel and having the drug container partially or wholly fitted therein, a plugged mouth portion of the container facing downward, a membrane disposed in the communicating passage for closing the passage, and a particular puncturing needle unit mounted in the communicating passage for enabling the vessel and container to communicate with each other. When the puncturing needle unit is pressed externally through the flexible vessel, the needle breaks the membrane and the plug member of the drug container to enable the vessel and container to communicate with each other.

    摘要: A cartridge assembly for holding a lyophilized product, forming a disposable portion of a pen injector includes a cylindrical glass cartridge adapted to receive the product, a closure cap, a cartridge case, and a plunger mechanism. The closure cap is adapted to retain an elastomeric disc seal during lyophilization and includes diametrically opposed ledges. The closure cap and seal are adapted to cover a neck portion of the ampule, the neck portion having on its end a radially extending circumferential flange. The ledges of the closure cap and the flange of the neck portion allow the closure cap to remain open during lyophilization, oxygen purge and nitrogen overlay. An oval-shaped indentation formed on the inside of the closure cap aids in snapping the closure cap about the flange without crimping to retain the closure cap underneath the flange. Reconstitution of the lyophilized drug is accomplished without foaming by use of an obliquely angled connector which causes the diluent to indirectly impinge on the drug. The injection pen and cartridge assembly cooperate such that the length of travel of the plunger rod during retraction is less than the axial length of a recess in the rod tip.

    摘要: A medication dispenser (2, 120) is used to directly fill a syringe (8, 134) with measured amounts of one or more liquid medications, typically two different types of insulin, from containers, such as vials (4, 6) and cartridges (230, 232, 234) each having a septum at one end; each cartridge has a pierceable piston (256) at the other end. The septum of each container is pierced by hollow liquid spikes (54) while hollow gas spikes (56) pierce the septum of the vial and the piston of the cartridge. Liquid is pumped out of the container and air is replaced into the container through the liquid and gas spikes. Two of the cartridges can contain a diluent (231) and a lyophilized component (233) respectively; the diluent in the first cartridge can be pumped into the second cartridge through a one-way valve to create a mixed pharmaceutical which is then pumped into the syringe, with or without another pharmaceutical.

    摘要: The disclosure of this application is directed to a protective shielding assembly suitable for use in the loading of a hypodermic syringe with radioactive material. The protective shielding device receives and securely holds, at one end, a vial which contains the material to be loaded and at its opposite end a hypodermic syringe with the needle of the syringe approximately centered with respect to the septum of the vial. Penetration of the septum of the vial is effected by moving the slidable members of the protective shielding assembly toward the vial which in turn moves the hypodermic syringe causing the needle of the hypodermic syringe to rupture the vial septum and enter the vial.

    摘要: A dispensing package for a dry biological and a liquid diluent has a hollow resilient member for containing a liquid diluent, said member being open at one end and having a nozzle at the other end with a removable closure. A plug is secured in the open end of the hollow member and a skirt integral with the plug forms a chamber for the reception of a container. A hollow needle secured in the plug is in communication with the interior of the hollow resilient member and extends into the interior of the skirt. A container for a dry biological has a pierceable stopper and is frictionally engaged by the skirt in a position such that the end of the needle within the skirt is embedded in the pierceable stopper to block the flow of liquid through the needle. The stopper is spaced away from the plug. On the further advance of the container towards the plug, the needle passes through the stopper into the container to permit the transfer of the liquid diluent into the container and then back into the tube for administration through the nozzle on the removal of the nozzle closure. A syringe type needle may be substituted for the nozzle to provide for subcutaneous or intramuscular administration.
