A controller selectively controls a brake force applied by the brake assembly. The controller is configured to determine a drive torque condition when the vehicle is stationary on an inclined surface.     摘要: A spool valve 10 for a variable camshaft timing (VCT) phaser for an internal combustion engine comprises a spool 11 slidable in a bore 12 in a valve sleeve 13, the spool 11 having spaced apart lands 14-17 dividing the bore 12 into chambers 41, 42, 43 between adjacent lands. The valve sleeve 13 has fluid passages 22-27 including a lock passage 26 communicating with a lock pin 31, a vent passage 27 communicating with a fluid sump 35, and a lock pin oil feed passage 22, with the spool 11 being slidable in the bore 12 to interconnect select passages via particular chambers, wherein the vent passage 27 and the lock pin passage 26 are connectable with different chambers 43 and 42 respectively. The arrangement avoids unnecessary operation of the lock pin 31.

    摘要: A vehicle has a vehicle body and a vehicle bonnet assembly. The vehicle bonnet assembly includes a bonnet 14 hinged at its front to the vehicle body 10 and latched at its rear by two latch devices. Each latch device comprises a latch assembly 17 mounted to the vehicle body 10 and a striker 21 mounted to the bonnet 14. Impact sensors are configured to detect a front collision with a pedestrian and two lift actuators 18 are arranged to raise the rear edge of the bonnet 14 into a deployed position in response to a pedestrian impact. Each latch assembly 17 includes a latch claw 26 moveable between a latch position in which the striker 21 is held by the latch claw 26 and a release position in which the striker 21 is releasable from the latch claw 26. Each latch assembly 17 also includes a release member 27 which is operable by a driver of the vehicle to allow the latch claw 26 to be moved towards its release position and allow the bonnet 14 to be lifted. A release actuator 32 is arranged to move the release member 27 and allow the latch claw 26 to be moved towards its release position and retain it in said position when the bonnet 14 is lifted by the lift actuators 18 in the event of a pedestrian impact. Each release actuators 32 is retained by a spring clip 37 which is attached to one end of a release tape 38 whose other end is connected to one of the lift actuators 18. The release tape 38 is normally hidden by the bodywork under the bonnet 14. However, when the bonnet 14 is moved to the deployed position by the lift actuators 18, the tape 38 is exposed and can be pulled to release the clip 37. The release actuator 32 can then pull away, allowing the latch assembly 17 to be re-set.

    摘要: A cruise control system for a motor vehicle includes a sensor for monitoring a target vehicle moving in front of the equipped vehicle, a sensor for monitoring the speed of the equipped vehicle and a sensor for monitoring steering manoeuvres of the equipped vehicle, the cruise control system controlling the throttle and brake systems of the vehicle to control the speed of the vehicle. The cruise control system is switchable between a cruise mode in which it will maintain a set cruising speed when the path in front of the vehicle is clear and a follow mode in which it will maintain a preset headway with a target vehicle in front of the equipped vehicle. The system is switched from the cruise mode to the follow mode when a target vehicle moves inside the preset headway, the system switching from the follow mode to the cruise mode when the target vehicle is lost or moves outside a preset headway. When switching from the follow mode to the cruise mode, the cruise control system applies a resume acceleration to accelerate the equipped vehicle back to the set cruising speed, the resume acceleration rate being adjusted as a function of steering manoeuvres carried out by the equipped vehicle.

    摘要: An interior door handle assembly for locking and releasing a door latch mechanism is connected to the door latch mechanism by a single push/pull operating cable. The latch mechanism has a release lever and a locking lever, the release lever and locking lever being pivotally mounted about axes which are parallel but spaced from one another. The push/pull cable is connected to the locking lever and the locking lever has a formation which, when the latching mechanism is in a latched but unlocked condition will extend into the path of the release lever so that upon movement of the release lever to release the latch mechanism, the formation will be engaged by the release lever to pull the cable. The formation is moved out of the path of the release lever when the locking lever is moved to lock the latch mechanism.
