摘要: An integrally formed single piece light strip and light strip manufacturing system. The light strip also includes a substrate populated with a plurality of LED light circuits. A plurality of bus elements are spaced apart from one another at a predetermined distance and are in electrical communication with the plurality of light circuits. A plastic material is extruded around the plurality of light circuits and the substrate to completely encapsulates the bus elements and the plurality of light circuits to provide a protective housing. In one embodiment, an electrical connector is also integrally formed as part of the light strip to eliminate the need for separate connectors. The light strip is manufactured in a cost efficient manner, and is impervious to moisture penetration, thereby allowing the strip to be used in a variety ions and environments.

摘要: The performance of natural rubber based products, such as engine mounts which are susceptible to degradation caused by heat, oxidation, ozone attack or ultraviolet radiation is significantly improved by coating exposed surfaces of the product with a polymeric material having excellent heat and oxidation resistance properties. By applying such polymeric coatings having high resistance towards oxidation under excessive heat, the C.dbd.C bonds of the natural rubber are protected from oxygen and ozone attacks, thereby allowing its strain-crystallization characteristic properties to be retained.

摘要: A method of assembling a metal or decorative strip to a body side molding of a vehicle. The method includes forming a bodyside molding by extrusion, injection molding or another plastic forming process to a desirable cross-sectional configuration having a show side opening. The strip is shaped by forming and end punching the metal strip to a desirable shape and configuration. The formed metal strip and the bodyside molding are then placed in suitable fixtures in proximity to one another, and to a heat staking tool. The heat staking tool picks up the metal strip from the fixture such that the strip is heated. The heat staking tool then forces the heated metal strip into the opening in the bodyside molding under suitable pressure such that the metal strip melts the molding and the edges of the metal strip are embedded within the molding.

摘要: A deformation detection system including an elongated element having a hollow deformable wall member that defines a radiation transmission path. A sound radiation transmission source positioned at one end of the elongated member transmits acoustical radiation into the radiation transmission path. A sound radiation detector positioned at an opposite end of the radiation transmission path is responsive to and detects the acoustical radiation transmitted from the radiation source. Deformation of the wall member at least partially interrupts the radiation transmission path such that transmitted acoustical radiation from the sound radiation source is attenuated, and the attenuated acoustical radiation is detected and assessed by the radiation detector. The detection system has particular applicability to monitor a body opening of a motor vehicle in which a closure member, such as a window, is movable towards a peripheral edge of the body to close the opening by an electrically operated drive mechanism. A detected attenuated acoustic radiation signal provides a signal to the drive mechanism to stop movement of the closure member.

摘要: A pinch welt for trimming a flange formed on a vehicle body panel is disclosed. The welt includes a rigid insert made of a thermoplastic or synthetic rubber material that is compatible with the material of an outer decorative layer of the welt so as to allow the pinch welt to be readily recyclable as a single unit after use. The material of the insert has a resilience that allows the welt to be readily secured to the flange in a resilient manner. The insert is shaped by cooperating continuous forming rolls in an extrusion process that provides oppositely extending tines in which a thin webbing is formed between the tines.

摘要: A method of forming an elongated trim strip product includes extruding a first strip of thermoplastic material from a die having an outlet with an area at least substantially as great as the desired cross-sectional area of the strip product in planes perpendicular to the direction of extrusion. Immediately subsequent to the step of extruding and while the extruded strip is still in a plastic state, it is passed longitudinally between cooperating forming rolls to shape the cross section of the extruded strip to the desired shape and cross section of the strip product. Further, while passing between the rolls a logo or lettering is formed on the strip. While the extruded strip is passing between the cooperating forming rolls, a backing strip of foil or thin metal is directed between the rolls in alignment with the extruded strip to bond the backing strip to the extruded strip. In a second embodiment, one or more cables of high strength flexible material, such as metal wire, are joined to or embedded in the extruded strip during the extrusion process to function as a pulling mechanism for moving the extruded strip through a cooling bath without stretching or deforming the extruded strip. After cooling, the cables can be severed from the strip if desired.
