摘要: A system and method for secure generation and distribution of digital encryption keys is disclosed. The system may also be used to protect and distribute other types of secure information, including digital, audio, video, or analog data, or physical objects. The system may include a tamper-respondent secure token device, which may be configured to destroy or disable access to the secure information contained therein in response to attempts to physically or electronically breach the device. Outputs may be provided in a secure manner through various interfaces without using electricity (wires) or electromagnetic radiation. Inputs may be provided in a secure manner, including through the use of a gesture-based input interface. Destruction or disablement of the device and/or its secure contents may be provided upon detection of tamper attempts or upon input of a self-destruct command. Proof of the destruction or disablement of the device or its contents may be provided.

摘要: A system and method for efficient branch prediction. A processor includes two branch predictors. A first branch predictor generates branch prediction data, such as a branch direction and a branch target address. The second branch predictor generates branch prediction data at a later time and with higher prediction accuracy. Control logic may determine whether the branch prediction data from each of the first and the second branch predictors match. If a mismatch occurs, the first predictor may be trained with the branch prediction data generated by the second branch predictor. A stored indication of hysteresis may indicate a given branch instruction exhibits a frequently alternating pattern regarding its branch direction. Such behavior may lead to consistent branch mispredictions due to the training is unable to keep up with the changing branch direction. When such a condition is determined to occur, the control logic may prevent training of the first predictor.

摘要: A system and method for efficiently indicating branch target addresses. A semiconductor chip predecodes instructions of a computer program prior to installing the instructions in an instruction cache. In response to determining a particular instruction is a control flow instruction with a displacement relative to a program counter address (PC), the chip replaces a portion of the PC relative displacement in the particular instruction with a subset of a target address. The subset of the target address is an untranslated physical subset of the full target address. When the recoded particular instruction is fetched and decoded, the remaining portion of the PC relative displacement is added to a virtual portion of the PC used to fetch the particular instruction. The result is concatenated with the portion of the target address embedded in the fetched particular instruction to form a full target address.

摘要: A digitizer system (DS) may include one or more input channels to receive sample data, and an acquisition state machine (ASM) to organize the sample data into one or more acquisition records according to events of interest, and generate framing information corresponding to the one or more acquisition records. The events of interest may be identified by a trigger circuit in the DS, and relayed to the ASM for organizing the sample data. The DS may further include a data interface capable of receiving the one or more acquisition records and the framing information, encoding the one or more acquisition records and the framing information into encoded data, and transmitting the encoded data to an expansion module. The expansion module may receive the encoded data, decode the encoded data, and recover the sample data from the decoded data according to the framing information and the one or more acquisition records.

摘要: System and method for generating hard and soft extruded image shadows with ray-coherent integration of extruded transparency maps. The ends of rays are positioned along a set of spokes radiating from the background point to be illuminated. In some embodiments, the weighted sum of integrals along a dense cone of rays from each point on the background is computed to determine the fraction of light obscured by the extruded artwork. The end points of the rays may be placed on lines that converge to the background point, according to some embodiments. Thus, intermediate line integrals of the alpha matte may be used to compute values for multiple rays. In other words, since the endpoints of multiple rays are placed along a single line, the results of computing the weighted sums for shorter rays may be used when calculating the sums for longer rays.

摘要: A tunnel device for an input/output node of a computer system. A tunnel device includes a first interface, a second interface and a control unit. The first interface may receive a plurality of data bytes associated with a command packet on a first external input/output bus. The second interface may be coupled to the first interface by an internal data path configured to convey up to a maximum number of data bytes in a given cycle. The control unit may be coupled to control the conveyance of the data bytes from the first interface to the second interface upon the internal data path. The first interface may further align the smaller number of data bytes on a corresponding number of designated bits of the internal data path with no intervening invalid data bytes when conveying a smaller number of data bytes than the maximum number of data bytes.

摘要: A system that implements a data storage service may store data on behalf of clients in multiple replicas stored on respective computing nodes. The system may employ a single master failover protocol, usable when a replica attempts to become the master replica for its replica group. Attempting to become the master replica may include acquiring a lock associated with the replica group, and gathering state information from other replicas in the group. The state information may indicate whether another replica supports the attempt (in which case it is included in a failover quorum) or stores more recent data or metadata than the replica attempting to become the master (in which case it is removed from the replica group). If replicas are removed from the group, they may re-join later or new replicas may be added. If the failover quorum includes enough replicas, the replica assumes mastership for the group.
