Abstract:
A transimpedance amplifier system (TIA) for stabilizing high gain and high frequency signals while minimizing parasitic capacitance effects on the transimpedance amplifier system. The TIA includes an operational amplifier having a first input terminal, a second input terminal, and an output terminal. The TIA also includes a signal generating device operatively connected with the first input terminal of the operational amplifier. The TIA also includes a T-network feedback architecture operatively connected with the operational amplifier at the first input terminal of the operational amplifier and the output terminal of the operational amplifier. The T-network feedback architecture has a first impedance network and a second impedance network. The T-network feedback architecture is configured to suppress parasitic capacitance from the transimpedance amplifier system.
Abstract:
A method for mitigating the effect of a localized jamming attack on a secure, tactical wireless network implements a dynamic relay assignment (“DRA”) approach, whereby nodes are dynamically assigned to relay communications to “disadvantaged” nodes that are subject to the attack, the relay nodes being selected based on their communication reliability and their proximity to the disadvantaged nodes. In embodiments, the nodes share with each other performance statistics and, in embodiments, measured local noise levels. In various embodiments, each node provides data to a “strategy optimizer” which then dynamically makes relay assignments. In Link-16 embodiments support for a “DRA” relay mode is added, and the communication protocol is extended to support the required exchange of communication quality and local noise information via PPLI messages.
Abstract:
A method for fabricating crystalline dielectric material on top of metal layers to produce an apparatus for non-mechanical steering of an input laser beam is provided. The apparatus may include a plurality of stacked parallel dielectric waveguides, each waveguide of which is fabricated by separating layers of dielectric material from a donor wafer and bonding the separated layers of dielectric material to a receiving wafer. A plurality of voltages is applied across the stacked parallel dielectric waveguides. Each of the stacked parallel dielectric waveguides is electrically phase modulated to deflect an output beam in a predictable manner.
Abstract:
An integrated resistor includes a resistor body region and a resistor contact region that is aligned with the body region. Because the resistor includes an aligned body and contact, it often occupies a smaller area than prior integrated resistors having a similar resistance value. A method for forming such a resistor is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A classifier network has at least two distinct sets of refined data, wherein the first two sets of refined data are sets of numbers representing the features values data received from sensors or a manufactured part. Performing, via at least two distinct types of support vector machines using an associated feature selection process for each classifier independently in a first layer, anomaly detection on the manufactured part. Then, using the stored data including refined data of at least two different types of data transforms and performing, via at least a two distinct types of support vector machines in a second layer, an associated feature selection process for each classifier independently. Forming at least four distinct compound classifier types for anomaly detection on the part using the stored data or coefficients. The ensemble of second layer support vector machine outputs compare the results to determine the presence of an anomaly.
Abstract:
A system provides for a way for cooling an optical fiber. The system includes a coolant and a conduit. The conduit allows the coolant to flow through the conduit. At least part of the fiber passes through the conduit allowing the coolant to flow around the at least part of the fiber. In some configurations, the fiber runs parallel to the conduit. The system can include a pump diode that is part of an optical laser connected to an end of the fiber. The optical laser can further include a high reflector connected to the fiber and a partial reflector connected to the fiber to reflect some light back and forth between the high reflector and the partial reflector.
Abstract:
A high-power and high-gain ultra-short gate HEMT device has exceptional gain and an exceptionally high breakdown voltage provided by an increased width asymmetric recess for the gate electrode, by a composite channel layer including a thin indium arsenide layer embedded in the indium gallium arsenide channel layer and by double doping through the use of an additional silicon doping spike. The improved transistor has an exceptional 14 dB gain at 110 GHz and exhibits an exceptionally high 3.5-4 V breakdown voltage, thus to provide high gain, high-power and ultra-high frequency in an ultra-short gate device.

The apparatus which comprises a laser source for generating a plurality of independent or quasi-independent point sources of light; a fiber optic bundle which comprises a plurality of individual optical fibers for each receiving at least one of the plurality of point sources of light, from the laser source, and directing the plurality of point sources of light toward the target for illumination thereof; and an oscillating diffuser for receiving the plurality of point sources of light and oscillating at a frequency so as to redirect each one of the plurality of point sources of light over an area of the target to be illuminated to facilitate uniform illumination and imaging thereof.
Abstract:
A process for allowing a Concurrent Multi-Netting (CMN-4) equipped Link 16 terminal to enter an active network. After an initial entry command is entered at the terminal at a given current time at the terminal, a number of time slots are identified in which multiple receivers at the terminal have an opportunity to detect an initial entry message (IEM) after the given current time. Each of the receivers is set to detect an IEM during a different one of the identified time slots. When an IEM is first detected by one of the receivers, the current time at the terminal is reset based on the time slot in which the IEM was detected.
