摘要: An object detection system includes an emitter, a receiver, and a controller adjacent a window assembly which typically includes a moveable glass member and a frame. In operation the emitter transmits the electromagnetic through a defined field adjacent a closure path of a moveable glass member. The controller constructs a map of the signal received by the receiver such that insertion of an object within the defined field produces a variation in the map. The controller halts or reverses the movement of the moveable glass member to prevent trapping the object between the closing moveable glass member and the frame.

摘要: A system and method for controlling temperature within a vehicle cabin include monitoring various temperature sensors to determine current operating conditions, determining a desired temperature or temperature range based on occupant input, dynamically estimating a temperature gradient based on changes in the current operating conditions over a predetermined time, predicting when the desired temperature or temperature range will be attained based on the gradient and the current operating conditions, and controlling a heating/cooling system based on the predicted time. Controlling the heating/cooling system may include shutting off the system at a predicted time, or turning on the system at a predicted time. The process of prediction can be linear, non-linear, or empirical, i.e., based on a table.

摘要: A driveline assembly for interconnecting one driveline component to another driveline component includes a vibration dampening mechanism. The vibration dampening mechanism is installed between a universal joint member and a companion flange. The universal joint member is coupled to a driveshaft and the companion flange is coupled to a drive axle member. A resilient member is secured between the universal joint and the companion flange for absorbing vibrations transmitted between the axle member and the driveshaft. Together the universal joint and companion flange define a central axis. The resilient member is compressible in a linear direction along the central axis to absorb vibrations.

摘要: A vehicle suspension system is dynamically adjustable to minimize the effects of energy transfer on a driver, passenger or cargo within a vehicle. Each wheel preferably has a suspension module that includes a force absorbing device with an adjustable force absorbing capacity. A sensor is associated with each wheel that detects an amount of displacement and acceleration of the wheel in response to a force imposed on the vehicle as caused by variations in a road surface, for example. An electronic controller detects the amount of displacement and acceleration of one wheel and activates an electrically activated force imposing device at another wheel to effectively counteract the effect of the force on the one wheel within one millisecond. The force imposing device preferably is a piezoelectric actuator. The vehicle suspension system of this invention is dynamically adjustable and compensates for variations in a road surface, for example, while the vehicle is in transit.

摘要: A control system and method provides automatic adjustments in a heavy duty vehicle that effectively redistributes the weight among the various wheel axles. A plurality of sensors are associated with the plurality of wheel axles on the vehicle. An electronic controller gathers information from the sensors and determines the weight at each wheel axle. The electronic controller then automatically determines adjustments that can be made to effectively redistribute the weight among the wheel axles in the event that the weight at any one axle is outside of a preselected range. The adjustments preferably are made by automatically moving the position of an adjustable “fifth wheel” relative to the cab portion. Additionally, this invention provides the capability of automatically adjusting the position of at least one trailer wheel axle. The adjustments can be made dynamically even while the vehicle is in motion.

The OAT sensor is located in a region which is exposed to heat after the engine is turned off. 摘要: A brake lining wear indicator utilizes a temperature sensor assembly embedded in a brake lining of a drum brake assembly. The temperature sensor assembly includes two temperature sensors with a first temperature sensor located at a first distance X from the wear surface of the brake lining and a second temperature sensor located at a second distance X+d from the wear surface. A timing device measures the time period for the first temperature sensor to reach a first predetermined temperature and measures the time period for the second temperature sensor to reach a second predetermined temperature. The remaining useful thickness of the brake lining is determined based on the ratio of the respective time periods. Thus, the indicator provides a time-temperature based determination of when the brake linings should be replaced. This determination is easily monitored during the operation of the vehicle and can be made without requiring a physical measurement or visual inspection of the thickness of the brake lining on each brake shoe.
