Abstract:
A conveyor has a multiplicity of spaced rollers transporting a succession of overlapping wire loops in a transport direction. A cooling apparatus has side walls above and below the conveyor forming a vertical shaft, a cover displaceable between a closed position closing an upper end of the shaft and an open position clear of the upper shaft end, and a fan underneath the shaft for directing an air stream upward along the shaft through the conveyor. A floor plate is displaceable between a closed position at least partially closing a lower end of the shaft and blocking the air stream and a position clear of the lower shaft end.
Abstract:
A fine steel or wire train with a multiple-stand roughing train, a multiple-stand intermediate train and a finishing block composed of six or eight or ten roll stands with a common drive, wherein at least the two last roll stands of the finishing block are each provided with an individual drive unit and the drive shafts of the last two roll stands which can be uncoupled intersect the principal drive shafts of the coupled stands.
Abstract:
A steel bar is made by first producing a continuously cast forgeable steel strand of generally square cross section with flat beveled corners at a temperature above a transformation temperature. This strand is then cut into billets which are passed through a succession of pairs of rollers and compressed with the rollers with a pressure sufficient to compact a core of the billets without substantially lengthening the billets.
Abstract:
A pair of roll support shafts which are supported by bearings provided at both ends of the roll support shafts, wherein, between the bearings, toothed drums are mounted on the roll support shafts or the circumference of the roll support shafts is provided with toothings. Outside of the bearings, roll disks can be mounted on the ends of the roll support shafts, wherein one of the toothed drums meshes with a drive pinion mounted on a parallel drive shaft and the other toothed drum meshes with a loosely mounted intermediate pinion, wherein the drive and the intermediate pinion also mesh with each other. The roll support shafts are each supported in a free end of a single-armed tumbler lever which is swingable about the longitudinal axis of the drive pinion or the intermediate pinion, wherein the tumbler levers are supported relative to the roll stand by means of adjustable and securable rigid or elastic support members and the free ends are supported relative to each other through elastic members.
Abstract:
A pair of roll grooves defining a rolling passage for the bar stock in respective rolls having abutting or bearing portions which are undercut to increase elasticity and are separated from the grooves by recesses. The force with which the rolls are pressed against one another far exceeds the rolling force.
Abstract:
A method of operating a roll stand arrangement composed of one or more roughing stands and a compact rolling group arranged downstream of the roughing stands and transversely offset relative to the roughing stands. The compact rolling group is connected to the roughing stands through roller conveyors and a transverse conveying unit. The compact rolling group is composed of a first and a second universal stand or two-high stand and an intermediate upsetting stand between the first and second stands. Preliminary sections arriving from a continuous casting plant are supplied directly or after intermediate storage to the roll stand arrangement. The rolling stock strand which has been rolled in the roughing stands is supplied optionally from a first entry side or a second entry side into the compact rolling group in dependence on the number of passes required by the respective rolling program.
Abstract:
An indicator for attachment to objects to display elapsed times and/or changes of state, in which a visible display is brought about by color change of the indicator upon reaction of chemical substances and with destruction of a barrier preliminarily separating the chemical substances. The barrier is a separating or covering layer that can be penetrated by selective pitting by a chemical substance preliminarily enclosed by the barrier. An embodiment of the invention includes selective pitting of the barrier member with a resulting visible change of the indicator. Another embodiment of the invention includes initial separation of two chemical substances that can react with one another with visible change, of which at least one reacts chemically with the barrier for the latter's penetration.
Abstract:
A convertible top has the edges of its cover stitched to polyethylene-shaped strips which conform to the undersides of the frame members around the front, rear and sides of the convertible top. The strips are held against the undersides of the frame members complementarily by holding rails and screws, and sealing strips are fitted onto the holding rails.
Abstract:
A solid composition, suitable for stabilizing a halogen-containing polymer, consisting essentially of (a) 16.7 to 50% by weight of a liquid sulfur-containing organotin stabilizer, in intimate admixture with (b) 83.3 to 50% by weight of a solid lubricant, having a melting point of 50.degree. to 120.degree. C., selected from the group consisting of paraffin wax, montan wax, oxidized paraffin wax, oxidized polyethylene wax, oxidized and partially saponified polyethylene wax and mixtures thereof.
Abstract:
An oil filter has a cap screwed to the approximately upright arranged filter housing of the oil filter for the cleaning of lubricating oil, with a ring-shaped filter insert being detachably fastened on the cap and separating the outer inflow space from the inner flow-off space. In the lower zone of the filter housing, provision is made for a valve-like acting member, which is automatically opened with each change of the filter insert and serves for discharging oil that remained in the filter housing into an oil-collecting space via a discharge duct. A center bar is rotatably connected with the cap. The center bar is axially displaceable in a limited way and has in its zone close to the cap a piston-like flange, which is sealed against the filter insert and separates the inflow space from the flow-off space. The center bar has, in its lower end zone, the valve-like acting member cooperating with the discharge duct.
