摘要: Described herein are spunlaid fibers including at least one polymeric resin and at least one filler having an average particle size of less than or equal to about 5 microns and/or having a top cut of less than about 15 microns. The at least one filler may be present in an amount of less than about 40% by weight, relative to the total weight of the spunlaid fibers. Also described herein is a method for producing spunlaid fibers including adding calcium carbonate to at least one polymeric resin and extruding the resulting mixture. Further described herein are nonwoven fabrics including such spunlaid fibers, and methods for producing them.

摘要: A method of treating water to reduce or prevent bacterial infection in an aquatic organism may include administering a particulate kaolin clay to the water in a dosage sufficient to reduce the presence of at least one undesirable bacterial species present in the water, wherein the particulate kaolin clay has at least one property selected from: (a) a BET surface area of at least about 25 m2/g; (b) a particle size distribution such that at least about 80% by weight of the particles of kaolin clay have an equivalent spherical diameter of less than 2 microns as measured by Sedigraph; and (c) a particle size distribution such that at least about 25% by weight of the particles of kaolin clay have an equivalent spherical diameter of less than 0.25 microns as measured by Sedigraph. The method may further include contacting an aquatic organism with the treated water.

摘要: A method for treating calcium carbonate includes combining calcium carbonate with an amount of stearic acid and an amount of water to form a mixture, the amount of water being at least about 0.1% by weight relative to the total weight. The method further includes blending the mixture to form a stearic acid-treated calcium carbonate composition.

摘要: A composition including ground calcium carbonate may have a coarse particle size and high steepness factor. Some compositions may include ground calcium carbonate and an additive, such as kaolin. A coating including ground calcium carbonate may have a course particle size and high steepness factor, and a carrier suspending the ground calcium carbonate. The ground calcium carbonate may have a mean particle size (d50) greater than about 2.4 μm. The ground calcium carbonate may also have a steepness factor greater than about 30. Also described are products including a substrate and a coating applied to the substrate, where the coating includes ground calcium carbonate having a coarse particle size and high steepness factor.

摘要: A method for obtaining rare earth element compositions may include providing a dispersed aqueous suspension of a particulate material including at least one rare earth element compound and kaolinite. The method may further include adding to the suspension a selective flocculation polymer that facilitates separation of at least a portion of the at least one rare earth element compound from the kaolinite by flocculating the kaolinite and allowing particles of the rare earth element compound to be or remain deflocculated. The method may also include allowing the suspension containing the polymer to separate in a selective flocculation separator into layers including a flocculated product layer and a deflocculated layer containing the portion of the at least one rare earth element compound. The method may further include extracting each of the separated layers from the separator. The rare earth element compound may include La2O3, CeO2, Nd2O3, or Y2O3.
