    摘要: A shutter valve for alternatingly allowing and stopping a high pressure water flow, such as in a device for generating energy from sea waves, comprising a tube section (201) having a rectangular cross section, wherein a multitude of vanes (202) are rotatably mounted in the tube section (201), wherein the vanes have a relatively large rectangular longitudinal cross section in a first direction, a relatively flat rectangular longitudinal cross section in a second direction perpendicular to said first direction, and a generally flat cross section in a third direction perpendicular to said first and second directions, said third direction being the axis of the vane (202), wherein the circumferential wall around the axis of each vane forms a closed water impermeable surface, wherein the axes of said multitude of vanes all extend in a parallel manner, characterized in that the distances between the axes of adjacent vanes are approximately half the distance between the outer tips of the vanes, seen in the cross section in said third direction, such that when the vanes are rotated to the closed position the lower half of the front surfaces and upper half of the back surfaces of all vanes form a single closed front surface and a single closed back surface, each in substantially a single flat plane perpendicular to the flow axis of the valve, said surfaces closing the opening of said tube section, and the other half of said front surfaces and the other half of said back surfaces of said vanes rest against each other.

    摘要: A data transmitter is provided which performs digital to analog conversion, convolution with an arbitrary finite impulse response, and smoothing of the output functions without requiring a separate anti-aliasing low pass filter. To implement the data transmitter, a digital input data value is convolved with a desired impulse response. The coefficients of the desired finite impulse response filter are chosen to create a first or second derivative of an output of the data transmitter. Then, the derivative is integrated so that a resulting signal output from the data transmitter is a smooth signal which does not require further filtering.

    摘要: Remarkably, disclosed herein is a solvent-less chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method for the oxidative polymerization and deposition of thin films of electrically-conducting polymers. In a preferred embodiment, the method provides poly-3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (PEDOT) thin films. In other embodiments, the method is applicable to polymerization to give other conducting polymers, such as polyanilines, polypyrroles, polythiophenes and their derivatives. The all-vapor technique uses a moderate substrate temperature, making it compatible with a range of materials, including as fabric and paper. In addition, this method allows for the coating of high surface-area substrates with fibrous, porous and/or particulate morphologies. The coated substrates may be used in organic semiconductor devices, including organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), photovoltaics, electrochromics, and supercapacitors.

    摘要: Variable length LAN frames can be segmented into fixed length cells to allow the data in the frames to be transported through an intermediate cell-based system, such as an ATM network. Where transport through the intermediate system results in time gaps between data units extracted from the cells, special symbol combinations can be inserted into the time gaps to permit frame-representing data to be forwarded toward its destination as a "stretched frame" without waiting for all the cells representing the frame to arrive. When a stretched LAN frame is received at a "stretch-aware" LAN station, the special symbol combinations are detected and removed to recover at least the data payload of the original LAN frame.

    摘要: A multi-port transceiver includes a transmitter and receiver for each port. The invention is a test method and apparatus for testing individual components in the transmit and receive paths. Specifically, the invention includes a method of testing the full range of a programmable gain amplifier (PGA) and an analog to digital converter (ADC) in the receive path of each port. This is accomplished by connecting the transmitter of one port directly to the receiver of a second port, and varying the amplitude of the transmitter over a range of gain settings of the PGA while examining if the dynamic range of the receiver has been exceeded.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine cylinder head unit includes a number of gas flow ports extending upwardly from a fire deck. A common coolant passage extends between adjacent ones of the gas flow ports. A first coolant flow director includes a flow splitter extending downwardly into the common coolant passage so as to cause a coolant flow within the common coolant passage to remain attached upon an upper surface of the fire deck between adjacent ports. A second coolant passage runs about a radially outboard portion of the cylinder head unit, and flow in this passage is directed by a truncated bulk flow displacer extending from a rear wall of the second coolant flow passage. The second flow director causes the impingement of coolant upon both an upper surface of the fire deck and upon an outboard portion of at least one of the cylinder ports.
