The present invention relates to a stable pyrithione salt polyol dispersion containing a pyrithione salt(s) in particulate form, a polyol and a stabilizer such as a rheological additive. The dispersion can be incorporated into existing polyurethane formulations without additional formula adjustment. Polyurethane foams produced from the composition containing pyrithione salt polyol dispersion of the present invention have more open cell structures, than those produced with a typical commercially available pyrithione salt thus providing a soft comfortable feeling.

The present invention relates to a process for coating a substrate which comprises (a) contacting said substrate with a low volatility organic (so-called "low VOC") coating composition having a viscosity as measured by ZAHN cup 2 of less than about 200 seconds and consisting essentially of at least one polyisocyanate, a solvent in an amount of between 0% and 45% by weight based upon the amount of said polyisocyanate in said composition, and an trimerization catalyst, said composition being essentially free of any volatile mono- and di-isocyanates, to form a coating on said substrate, and (b) heating said coating to a curing temperature of between 120.degree. F. and 350.degree. F. for a curing time of between about ten minutes and about six hours in order to cure said coating by trimerizing at least some of the isocyanate groups of the polyisocyanate to provide a heat-cured coating on said substrate. Also claimed is the coating composition itself.

This invention relates to a method of fabricating a thermoplastic elastomer which comprises the steps of: (a) fabricating a polyol having a molecular weight of between about 2,000 and about 20,000 and having a level of end group unsaturation of no greater than 0.04 milliequivalents per gram of polyol, said polyol being fabricated in the presence of a double metal cyanide catalyst, (b) reacting said polyol with a diisocyanate to produce an isocyanate-terminated prepolymer, and (c) reacting said isocyanate-terminated prepolymer with a difunctional isocyanato-reactive chain extender in a mold or in an extruder in order to produce a soft elastomer characterized by a Shore A hardness of between about 10 and about 70. Also claimed is the elastomer produced by the above method utilizing a one-shot technique.

These peroxy di-ester polyols are prepared by the direct esterification of peroxy diacids with polyols, in the presence of a strong mineral acid catalyst. The peroxy di-ester polyol products function as free radical initiators and grafting bases in the graft copolymerization of unsaturated monomers with polyols. These graft copolymers are useful in the formulation of polyurethanes.
