    摘要: The present invention relates to a method of screening compounds for modulation and binding to proteins, in particular proteins that have been immobilized in a monolithic chromatographic stationary phase. The method involves observing the conversion of a substrate to product by the protein and determining a product to substrate ratio. Changes in this ratio in the presence of another compound indicates that the other compound is a modulator of the enzyme. Various applications of this method to compound screening, including high throughput screening formats, are described.

The control instrument includes an instrument body, and at least one sensor element carried by the instrument body. The sensor element generates user input signals upon tactile actuation of the sensor element by a user. The user input signals indicate the location of contact and amount of force applied to the sensor element by the user. A music synthesis system and a sound processing system each including the control instrument are also provided.

    摘要: The present invention relates to methods of immobilizing membrane-associated molecules within a sol-gel matrix. The membrane-associated molecule is embedded in the bilayer of a liposome. The molecule-liposome assembly remains functionally intact when it is immobilized within a protein and membrane-compatible sol-gel derived from polyol silane precursors or sodium silicate. The activity and stability of the entrapped membrane-associated molecule was significantly improved in macroporous silica.
