    摘要: A light emitting diode (LED) light engine includes a solid transparent dome mounted on one or more LED dies to form a base module, a flexible sheath having embedded therein a phosphor that converts light of a first wavelength range to light of a second wavelength range, the sheath being attached to the base module so that the sheath conforms to a light emitting surface of the dome. The sheath emits light of the second wavelength range when the LED is emitting light of the first wavelength range. Further sheaths may be formed each with different phosphors or phosphor blends, and one of the sheaths may be selected to cover the base module depending on the color of light to be produced by the light engine.

    摘要: There is herein described a lamp for providing white light comprising a plurality of light sources positioned on a substrate. Each of said light sources comprises a blue light emitting diode (LED) and a dome that substantially covers said LED. A first portion of said blue light from said LEDs is transmitted through said domes and a second portion of said blue light is converted into a red light by a first phosphor contained in said domes. A cover is disposed over all of said light sources that transmits at least a portion of said red and blue light emitted by said light sources. The cover contains a second phosphor that emits a yellow light in response to said blue light. The red, blue and yellow light combining to form the white light and the white light having a color rendering index (CRI) of at least about 80.

    摘要: An LED light source (10) comprises a ceramic substrate (20) with first and second opposed surfaces (30, 40). Pockets (50) are formed in the first surface (30) and each of the pockets includes a bottom (60) and a sidewall or sidewalls (70). A final electrical contact (105) comprised of a first electrically conductive material (57) with a coating of a second electrically conductive material (100) thereover is positioned in each of the pockets (50). An LED (110) is positioned in each of the pockets (50) and affixed to the electrical contact (105) and electrical connections (120), preferably in form of wire bonds, join the LEDs, the electrical connections (120) extending from a first LED (110) to an adjacent electrical contact (105). The ceramic substrate (20) is formed by injection molding a ceramic material and binder to form a green substrate (12) and subsequently sintering the green substrate to form the substrate (20). An LED light (150) can be formed from the LED light source (10) by adding a dome (150) formed of a ceramic material containing therein a homogeneous dispersion of a phosphor material capable of emitting light when excited by the light emitted from the operating LEDs (110).

    摘要: A light engine kernel for a light emitting diode (LED) includes a solid body of transparent material having an index of refraction of at least 1.5. The body has a domed, light-emitting top that is an inverted parabola of revolution, a reflective sidewall that is a compound parabolic concentrator (CPC), and a cavity at a focus of the CPC that is adapted to receive an LED. The domed top may include a phosphor coating of a yellow-emitting phosphor. The cavity may be adapted to receive only a single LED or plural LEDs of the same or different colors on a board. The kernel and LED are not integrally formed, reducing thermal degradation of the phosphor coating and improving application flexibility.

    摘要: A lamp includes a linearly extending heat sink, blue-light-emitting LEDs mounted on the heat sink, and a light emitting cover mounted on the heat sink in line with the LEDs, a first portion of the cover opposite the LEDs including a phosphor that is excited by the LEDs to emit white light. The cover may be a tube with the LEDs outside the tube, a portion of the tube nearest the LEDs being transparent and receiving light from the LEDs. The tube may include reflectors that are attached to an exterior surface of the tube to hold the tube on the heat sink. Alternatively, the cover may enclose the LEDs on the heat sink, where a portion of the cover has an interior surface that reflects light from the LEDs to the first portion. The lamp may include electrical connections that allow for multiple lamps to be connected in series.

    摘要: This invention relates to a new conjugated linoleic acids, a process for preparation thereof and method of use. Thus this invention is concerned with the preparation and purification of conjugated linoleic acids from materials rich in alpha or gamma linoleic acids. The reaction produces a mixture containing a 1:1 ratio of 9Z, 11E, 15Z-octadecatrienoic acid and 9Z, 13E, 15Z-octadecatrieonic acid. The mixture can be purified up to 90% by liquid chromatography, crystallization or urea crystallization. The mixture of 1:1 9Z, 11E, 15Z-octadecatrienoic acid and 9Z, 13E, 15E, 15Z-octadecatrienoic acid have anticancerous activities.

    摘要: A lighting module has a base, a top, a longitudinal axis from the base's center to the top's center, and a lateral edge surrounding the axis. Solid state light sources at the base emit excitation light, having an excitation wavelength and an angular distribution centered about the axis, toward the top. A lens defines a lateral edge of the module, which extends from the base to the top and reflects the excitation light. A phosphor surface of the module, shaped as a funnel having a wide end proximate the top and a narrow end proximate the base, receives and absorbs the excitation light, producing phosphor light that exits the module through the lateral edge. The phosphor light's wavelength is greater than the excitation wavelength, and has an angular distribution at each point on the phosphor surface centered about a local surface normal with respect to the phosphor surface.
