摘要:
A method for switching an optical connector having paired optical connectors, having pins engaged with engaging holes of the optical connectors, which involves a connector disposing step of disposing the switching optical connector parallel to the separating optical connector, a pin forward moving step of moving the pins engaged with both the reconnecting and separating optical connectors each other to the reconnecting optical connector side, then a connecting switching step of relatively moving the reconnecting optical connector, the separating optical connector and the switching optical connector and the front end faces thereof, and finally pin backward moving step of moving the pins of the reconnecting optical connector side to the switching optical connector side. Thus, the method and an apparatus for switching an optical connector can momentarily switch to connect optical transmission units with optical connectors without depending upon a worker's skill as well as to mechanize or automate the replacing work.

An optical fiber array includes a plurality of optical fibers which are arranged and fixed in a fiber array member. The optical fibers each have an end projecting from an end face of the fiber array member at substantially the same distance, and each have a lens formed at the end thereof. The optical fiber array is produced by arranging and fixing a plurality of optical fibers in the fiber array member such that each end of the optical fibers is projected from the end face of the fiber array member; forming a coating layer of a desired thickness over the end face of the fiber array member and portions of the optical fibers projecting from the end face of the fiber array member; collectively polishing the ends of the optical fibers projecting from the end face of the fiber array member, together with the coating layer, up to a predetermined position, thereby making the lengths of projections of the optical fibers substantially equal; and removing the coating layer and forming a lens at each end of the optical fibers.

A tip processing apparatus is equipped with a holder, and a holder fiber holding unit for extending the tip of the jacketed optical fiber comprising at least one optical fiber provided with a jacket, the holder holding the jacketed optical fiber in place. The apparatus also includes a jacket removing unit for removing a desired length of the jacket, leaving the jacket on the tip of the jacketed optical fiber; a cleaning unit for cleaning the optical fiber exposed by the jacket removal carried out in the jacket removing unit; and a cutting unit for performing cut processing thereby to trim the optical fiber cleaned by the cleaning unit. A tip processing method comprises moving a portion of the jacket by a desired length while leaving a portion of the jacket on the tip, and all processing steps of the jacket removing, cleaning, and cutting of the optical fiber are performed on the optical fiber with the jacket left on the tip.

The disclosure is concerned with a thermal land machine which comprises a heat resistant wall for confining a chamber; a heat resistant composite structure disposed in the chamber and in contact with a hot flowing gas; and an apparatus for introducing the hot gas toward the surface of the composite structure. The composite structure including a heat resistant substrate and a continuous refractory coating formed on the substrate and made of a ceramic material. The refractory coating includes at least two layers in a laminated structure each having fine cracks substantially extended in the direction of the thickness of each of the layers and filled with a refractory material in such a manner that the filled cracks in one layer are disconnected with the filled cracks in the adjacent layer. Therefore, the hot gas cannot permeate into the surface of the substrate.

A method of press-molding defectiveness detection adapted for the detection of the press-bonding defectiveness of a terminal which is attached to the end of a covered wire so that a wire barrel and an insulation barrel of the terminal are press-bonded to a conductor portion at the end of the covered wire and a covered portion of the wire, respectively, by press-molding. A profile of a press-bonding load acting on the terminal during terminal press-bonding operation is detected, and the press-bonding defectiveness of the terminal is determined by comparing the detected press-bonding load profile with a reference press-bonding load profile. The press-bonding defectiveness of the terminal may be determined, as required, by comparing the integral value of the press-bonding load, calculated on the basis of the detected press-bonding load profile, with a predetermined reference value. Alternatively, the defectiveness may be determined by comparing a press-bonding load value at at least one point of time and the maximum press-bonding load value with predetermined reference values individually corresponding thereto. Preferably, the press-bonding defectiveness of the terminal is determined by separately detecting profiles of press-bonding loads acting on the wire barrel and the insulation barrel, and comparing these profiles with reference press-bonding load profiles individually corresponding thereto.

An ultrasonic welding method for conductors is provided that is capable of suppressing occurrence of insufficient weld strength and a separation which may occur when terminals of a wires are ultrasonically welded. In a wire arranging step, wires are arranged in accordance with a predetermined arrangement. In a conductor moving step, conductors (2) are pressed in a predetermined direction by a grinding jaw (12), and thereby relative positions among the conductors (2) are changed. In a first ultrasonic welding step, ultrasonic welding is performed on the conductors (2) in a state of being pressed by the grinding jaw (12). In a second ultrasonic welding step, the pressing applied by the grinding jaw (12) is released, and ultrasonic welding is performed on the conductors (2).
