摘要: An optical fiber array includes a plurality of optical fibers which are arranged and fixed in a fiber array member. The optical fibers each have an end projecting from an end face of the fiber array member at substantially the same distance, and each have a lens formed at the end thereof. The optical fiber array is produced by arranging and fixing a plurality of optical fibers in the fiber array member such that each end of the optical fibers is projected from the end face of the fiber array member; forming a coating layer of a desired thickness over the end face of the fiber array member and portions of the optical fibers projecting from the end face of the fiber array member; collectively polishing the ends of the optical fibers projecting from the end face of the fiber array member, together with the coating layer, up to a predetermined position, thereby making the lengths of projections of the optical fibers substantially equal; and removing the coating layer and forming a lens at each end of the optical fibers.

摘要: A method of press-molding defectiveness detection adapted for the detection of the press-bonding defectiveness of a terminal which is attached to the end of a covered wire so that a wire barrel and an insulation barrel of the terminal are press-bonded to a conductor portion at the end of the covered wire and a covered portion of the wire, respectively, by press-molding. A profile of a press-bonding load acting on the terminal during terminal press-bonding operation is detected, and the press-bonding defectiveness of the terminal is determined by comparing the detected press-bonding load profile with a reference press-bonding load profile. The press-bonding defectiveness of the terminal may be determined, as required, by comparing the integral value of the press-bonding load, calculated on the basis of the detected press-bonding load profile, with a predetermined reference value. Alternatively, the defectiveness may be determined by comparing a press-bonding load value at at least one point of time and the maximum press-bonding load value with predetermined reference values individually corresponding thereto. Preferably, the press-bonding defectiveness of the terminal is determined by separately detecting profiles of press-bonding loads acting on the wire barrel and the insulation barrel, and comparing these profiles with reference press-bonding load profiles individually corresponding thereto.

摘要: An ultrasonic welding method for conductors is provided that is capable of suppressing occurrence of insufficient weld strength and a separation which may occur when terminals of a wires are ultrasonically welded. In a wire arranging step, wires are arranged in accordance with a predetermined arrangement. In a conductor moving step, conductors (2) are pressed in a predetermined direction by a grinding jaw (12), and thereby relative positions among the conductors (2) are changed. In a first ultrasonic welding step, ultrasonic welding is performed on the conductors (2) in a state of being pressed by the grinding jaw (12). In a second ultrasonic welding step, the pressing applied by the grinding jaw (12) is released, and ultrasonic welding is performed on the conductors (2).
