The first and second coil pieces are alternately inserted into the slots of the stator core. The empty space in the slot formed after the first coil piece has been inserted has sides extending parallel with the adjacent tooth or is gradually widened toward the upper portion of the slot. Therefore, the second coil piece can easily be inserted into the slot without interference with another member. Thus, the slots can be filled with the second coil pieces so that the space factor can be raised.

A power output apparatus (20) of the present invention includes a clutch motor (30), an assist motor (40), and a controller (80) for controlling the clutch motor (30) and the assist motor (40). The clutch motor (30) includes an outer rotor (32) linked with a crankshaft (56) of a gasoline engine (50) and an inner rotor (34) connecting with a drive shaft (22). The assist motor (40) includes a rotor (42) connecting with the drive shaft (22). A control CPU (90) of the controller (80) controls a first driving circuit (91) to enable the clutch motor (30) to carry out the regenerative operation. The clutch motor (30) accordingly regenerates energy corresponding to a slip between the outer rotor (32) and the inner rotor (34) as electric power. The control CPU (90) then controls a second driving circuit (92) to enable the assist motor (40) to carry out the power operation with the electric power regenerated by the clutch motor (30), thereby rotating the drive shaft (22) in the reverse of the rotation of the crankshaft (56). The power output apparatus (20) of the invention thus constructed can transmit or utilize the power generated by the gasoline engine (50) at a high efficiency and enable the drive shaft (22) to rotate in the reverse of the rotation of the crankshaft (56).

A CDMA receiving apparatus which can accurately perform phase tracking for a reception signal even under an environment wherein the reception delay amount varies in a period shorter than the processing time of a synchronization detection and phase tracking section. The CDMA receiving apparatus includes a plurality of FINGER processing sections individually provided for a plurality of paths and including de-spreading sections for receiving a signal spread with a spread code and arriving through the paths and de-spreading the reception signal with a de-spread code and channel estimation sections for estimating the paths based on results of the processing of the de-spreading sections, and a synchronization detection and phase tracking section for outputting a reception delay amount of the reception signal in a predetermined period to the de-spreading sections. Each de-spreading section includes a plurality of correlators for individually correcting, when the reception delay amounts are received, the reception delay amounts and performing de-spreading processing. Each channel estimation section includes level measurement sections for individually measuring correction value levels of the correlators, a level comparison section for comparing the measurement levels, and a path change-over section for selecting the correlation magnitude of that one of the correlators which is detected to output the highest measurement level.
