摘要： A driving circuit integrated type active-matrix liquid crystal display device is arranged such that a buffer composed of a P-channel thin film transistor and an N-channel thin film transistor that are connected in series is adopted for the P-channel thin film transistor and an N-channel thin film transistor; at least one of the P-channel thin film transistor and the N-channel thin film transistor is composed of a plurality of thin film transistors that are connected in parallel; and at least one of a power source line and an output line connected to the plurality of thin film transistors connected in parallel is formed in a wiring pattern composed of a main wiring section and a branched wiring section branched into respective thin film transistors. The described arrangement permits a line-shaped defect due to a defective thin film transistor which constitutes a buffer of the drive circuit to be eliminated with ease, while improving a yield of panels.

摘要： In an active matrix substrate having thereon a matrix of pixels each composed of a pair of a TFT and a pixel electrode, when the shorting of the pixel electrodes in adjacent pixels occurs, an electrical connection between the pixel electrode and drain electrode in the TFT of a matching pair in either of the shorted pixel electrodes is cut. For example, when the shorting of two adjacent pixels occurs, the pixel electrodes in both the pixels are driven by the TFT in the non-cut pixel. This arrangement makes it possible to make a display defect resulted from the shorting of adjacent pixels on the active matrix substrate less noticeable, and hence to upgrade display quality.

摘要： An active matrix substrate including an external signal supplying circuit for externally supplying the video signals to the data lines. The external signal supplying circuit includes a data line connection section connected to the data lines; an inspection signal inputting section and an inspection signal outputting section both connected to the data line connection section; and a switching device for electrically connecting the inspection signal inputting section or the inspection signal outputting section to the data line connection section. After the active matrix substrate is subjected to an electrical inspection, a short ring is formed for electrically connecting an inspection signal inputting terminal provided with an inspection signal inputting section, an inspection signal outputting terminal provided with an inspection signal outputting section, a first terminal provided with a gate driving circuit, a second terminal provided with a source driving circuit, and the data line connection section, in a case when the active matrix substrate is judged to have no defect; and then the short ring is removed after an alignment treatment of a display medium.

摘要： A driving circuit for use in a display apparatus for transmitting a video signal to data lines includes a plurality of shift registers; a control signal generating circuit for outputting a control signal which is at the ON level during a period shorter than a pulse width of signals outputted by the shift registers; a switching circuit controlled to be ON or OFF based on the control signal; and a sampling capacitor for holding the video signal sampled by the switching circuit. In such a driving circuit, the plurality of shift registers sequentially output signals so that the periods in which the signals are high are partially overlapped sequentially. The control signal generating circuit outputs a control signal which is at the On level during a period shorter than the signals from the shift registers. Since the switching circuit is controlled to be ON or OFF based on the control signal, a period in which the switching circuit is conductive is short. Accordingly, the number of such switching circuits which are simultaneously conductive is small, thereby applying a capacitance of only a small number of capacitors to a video signal line.

摘要： The method of the present invention is a method of forming a silicon-based semiconductor layer by introducing a source gas into a vacuum vessel and forming a silicon-based semiconductor layer containing a microcrystal on a substrate introduced into the vacuum vessel by plasma CVD, which comprises a first step of forming a first region with a source gas containing halogen atoms, and a second step of forming a second region on the first region under a condition where the source gas containing halogen atoms in the second step is lower in gas concentration than that of the first step, thereby providing a method of forming a silicon-based semiconductor layer having an excellent photoelectric characteristic at a film forming rate of an industrially practical level and a photovoltaic element using the silicon-based semiconductor layer formed by the method.

摘要： A projection-type liquid crystal display is provided with an image-outputting section which includes a liquid-crystal panel. On the light-releasing side of the liquid crystal panel, an active-matrix substrate and a polarizing element are bonded to each other with a bonding material that has virtually the same refractive index as that of these members so as to reduce internal reflection on the light-releasing surface of the active-matrix substrate and external reflection on the light-incident surface of the polarizing element. Further, a reflection-reducing coating layer is formed on the light-releasing surface of the light-releasing-side polarizing element to reduce internal reflection on the light-releasing surface of the polarizing element.
