    摘要： A recording device writes a multiple video stream and a corresponding trick-mode data signal on a record carrier. The recording device includes a selector for selecting at least two video streams from at least one multiple video stream, a trick-mode data generating unit for generating a trick-mode data signal, and a write unit for writing the selected video streams and the trick-mode data signal in a normal-play area or in a trick-play area on the record carrier. The trick-mode data generating unit is adapted to generate, for all the selected video streams, a corresponding trick-mode signal and to combine the corresponding trick-mode signals to a trick-mode data signal. The trick-mode data signal represents a mosaic image that can be displayed by a reproducing device.

    摘要： On the basis of n-bit words presented, the described channel encoder generates DC-free and run length limited m-bit (m>n) code words having (1+D).sup.-1 or (1+D.sup.1).sup.-1 precoder properties. The m-bit code words are formed each time by appending (m-n) bits to the n-bit words presented. For the determination of the (m-n) bits to be added, the amplitude density function as well as the distribution of the run length and the digital sum variation of the code words is calculated.

    摘要： A method of converting an audio signal into a binary signal and vice versa. During conversion samples of the audio signal are converted into data words comprising a plurality of amplitude bits and one sign bit. Subsequently each data word is divided into a plurality of (N) subwords, each subword comprising one of the N most significant amplitude bits of the data word. The data words thus obtained are modulated in accordance with the NRZ-M modulation. The binary signal thus obtained excells in respect of bandwidth and the possibility of clock generation during demodulation.

    摘要： Broadcast data received in MPEG Transport Stream format (TS) is processed (8) to produce a modified transport stream for recording on an optical disc (3) to record the content of a selected audio-visual program. Various techniques are disclosed for permitting random access within the recording, but without re-packetizing or remultiplexing the audio and video elementary streams, for example into program stream format. The received TS (DVIN) occasionally includes stream mapping information (PAT/PMT) identifying a transport packet ID code associated with each elementary stream, said stream mapping information being subject to change throughout the received TS. The packet IDs in the modified transport stream can be re-mapped to a uniform set of values to permit random entry to the recorded stream. Alternatively, the current stream mapping information may be inserted at every potential entry point in the modified stream. Characteristic point information (CPI) defining a set of potential entry points throughout the stream is generated by parsing the received stream, and recorded in a separate file to facilitate location of entry points on the disk. Entry points may for example comprise all I-pictures, or a subset of them. Clock reference values (PCR) not carried in one of the wanted streams are inserted in the modified transport stream using a separate packet ID. The recorded stream can be passed to a standard decoder with little or no further modification.

    摘要： A recording apparatus, for recording an information signal in at least one track on a record carrier. The information signal comprises packets (P.sub.i) that may occur irregularly as a function of time in the serial datastream of the information signal. The apparatus comprises an input terminal for receiving the information signal, a channel encoding unit for channel encoding the information signal into a channel encoded information signal and a writing unit for writing the channel encoded information signal in said at least one track on the record carrier. The channel encoded information signal comprises frames of information. A frame of information may be recorded in a group of n subsequent tracks (Tr0 to Tr11), when the recording apparatus is a recording apparatus of the helical scan type, where n is an integer larger than 1. The apparatus further comprises a time stamp generator unit for generating time stamps (TS.sub.i) having a relation to the moment of occurrence of a packet comprised in the information signal received. Further, a combining unit is present for combining a packet and its corresponding time stamp so as to obtain a composite packet (P.sub.i '). The time stamp generator unit comprises a counter for generating subsequent cycles of subsequent count values, said cycles coinciding in time with the recording of subsequent frames in said at least one track on the record carrier. In response to the detection of the occurrence of a packet in said information signal, a time stamp for said packet is generated, which time stamp has a specified relationship to the count value of said counter means at said moment of occurrence of said packet.
