    摘要: A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the first and second substrate, plural reflective electrodes arranged on a surface of the first substrate on a liquid crystal layer side thereof, each of the reflective electrodes being adapted to be supplied with a video signal; and plural light-blocking conductive films disposed below the reflective electrodes with an insulating layer interposed between the light-blocking films and the reflective electrodes. Each of the light-blocking films is electrically connected to a corresponding one of the reflective electrodes, and is disposed to cover at least a portion of spacings between the corresponding one of the reflective electrodes and ones of the reflective electrodes adjacent thereto.

    摘要: A reflection-type liquid crystal display module has a liquid crystal panel including a first substrate of, for example, a rectangular shape, a second substrate opposed to the first substrate and a liquid crystal layer provided in a space between the first substrate and the second substrate to form a display screen, a package for encasing and holding the liquid crystal panel while maintaining the first substrate in an exposed state and a dichroic prism to which the first substrate is attached. At least two sides each of the first substrate have a side edge extruding outwardly over a corresponding side end of the second substrate. The side edges of the first substrate are fixed between the dichroic prism and the package, whereby the second substrate is supported by the first substrate and not by the package.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display device which includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal composition sandwiched between the first substrate and the second substrate, and a plurality of pixels disposed on the first substrate. Each of the plurality of pixels is supplied with a video signal via a switching element. Each of the plurality of pixels is provided with a capacitance having two electrodes in which one is connected to a first electrode of a corresponding one of the plurality of pixels and another is supplied with a pixel-potential control signal by a pixel-potential control circuit. The pixel-potential control circuit enables selection of a first voltage level and a second voltage level.

In a display device employing a reflection type liquid crystal light valve, a retardation of a retardation plate which is provided between a polarizing element such as a polarizing beam splitter and the reflection type liquid crystal light valve is generally made ¼ of the wavelength of the incident light, and an optical axis (a slow axis or a fast axis) of the retardation plate and the polarizing direction of the incident polarized light are shifted from each other by slightly larger than 0 degree in order to arrange such optical elements.
