    摘要： Vulcanizable elastomeric compositions are described which comprise an elastomer and from about 0.001 to about 0.1 lb mole of metal per 100 lbs of elastomer, the metal content comprising a mixture of copper and zinc, said metals being present as(a) an organic carboxylic acid salt consisting of copper and zinc combined with one or more carboxylic acids,(b) a combination of two or more copper and zinc salts of organic carboxylic acids, or(c) a combination of a metal salt of an organic carboxylic acid and a mixed organic acid salt complex.Such vulcanizable elastomeric compositions exhibit improved adhesion to brass plated metal surfaces and are, therefore, useful in preparing rubber laminates containing metal reinforcing elements.

    摘要： A process for impregnating green wood with oil-soluble metal salts is described. The method comprises(a) contacting the green wood with an aqueous system comprising(i) water,(ii) at least one oil-soluble metal salt of an organic carboxylic acid, and(iii) at least one surfactant for a period of time sufficient to enable the metal salt to penetrate into the wood, and(b) removing the wood from contact with the aqueous system. Good penetration of the metal salt into the green wood is realized by this method when conducted under vacuum, at atmospheric pressure or at elevated pressures. Preferably, the metal salt is a preservative such as a fungicide, and the aqueous system also contains other desirable components such as fire retardants, coloring agents and insecticides.

    摘要： Metal carboxylate-glycol or carboxylate-glycol ether compositions, useful as siccatives in paint and like coating drier compositions, as internal combustion engine fuel--and other fuel--additives, and as stabilizers for polyvinyl chloride type plastics, and soluble in linseed oil and in aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbon solvents, are prepared in liquid form by heating a mixture of (a) an appropriate metal powder or compound such as an oxide, hydroxide, acetate, or carbonate, (b) a branched chain aliphatic or a non-aromatic cyclic carboxylic acid, even an acid as low as a five carbon acid, or a mixture of such acids, and (c) a polyol or an alkoxy alkanol, e.g., a glycol or glycol ether; and, after filtration of the reaction mix, distilling off any volatile reaction by-product and also excess glycol or glycol ether. Higher than the usual equivalents of metal may be reacted for each equivalent of acid used. Certain of the products have remarkably low viscosity without special dilution. The products are believed to be metal carboxlate-glycolate, -ether glycolate-alcoholate complexes.

    摘要： A method for treating wood with an aqueous composition having fungicidal and insecticidal properties. The aqueous composition comprises(a) at least one oil-soluble metal salt of an organic carboxylic acid having fungicidal properties wherein the metal is zinc, chromium, iron, antimony, lead, mercury or a mixture thereof,(b) at least one halopyridyl phosphate of the formula ##STR1## wherein R represents a halopyridyl group, Z represents oxygen or sulfur, and each R' is independently a lower alkoxy, amino or lower alkylamino group,(c) at least one surfactant, and(d) from about 60 to 99% of water.Such compositions penetrate into both dry and green wood rather readily, and the result is wood which is resistant to fungi and insects.
