摘要: Implantable medical devices are provided. In one embodiment, a device includes a body having an external surface defining an outer profile of the device. The body includes a porous matrix including a series of interconnected macropores defined by a plurality of interconnected struts each including a hollow interior. A filler material substantially fills at least a portion of the series of interconnected macropores. The external surface of the body includes a plurality of openings communicating with the hollow interior of at least a portion of the plurality of interconnected struts. In a further aspect of this embodiment, the external surface includes exposed areas of the filler material and porous matrix in addition to the exposed openings. In another aspect, the porous matrix is formed from a bioresorbable ceramic and the filler material is a biologically stable polymeric material. Still, other aspects related to this and other embodiments are also disclosed.

摘要: Implantable medical devices are provided. In one embodiment, a device includes a body having an external surface defining an outer profile of the device. 摘要: A metal coated implant and a method for using the implant for expanding an intervertebral disc space is provided. The implant comprises a polymer substrate and a metallic coating layer wherein the metallic coating layer is attached to the polymer substrate. There metal coated implant further comprising a biocompatible radiolucent polyetheretherketone (PEEK) material, and a metallic coating layer that is a titanium (Ti) or gold (Au) material. The metal coated implant's radiolucent and radiopaque properties enhance a surgeon's ability to distinctly visualize the metal coated implant to thereby better control and maneuver the delivery, insertion, trajectory, position and orientation of the metal coated implant through the patient anatomical environment and into the vertebral disc space.

摘要: A flexible spinal implant for insertion into an intervertebral disc space for intervertebral stabilization is provided comprising a flexible implant section which enables bending of the implant body to facilitate insertion of the flexible spinal implant into the disc space via a spinal surgical procedure. The flexible spinal implant comprises a leading end, a trailing end and a flexible mid section connecting the leading end and the trailing end, wherein the implant is deformable at or about the flexible mid section to thereby permit a substantially straight entry of the implant into the disc space, and delivered to the selected disc space at a desired insertion angle of approach via a spinal surgical procedure. The implant can have a leading end comprising a curved or bullet shaped configuration, and the flexible mid section may be comprised of a flexible material.
