摘要： Methods and apparatus for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) assisted cryosurgery. Optimal probe placements and cooling parameters are calculated prior to cryosurgery using MRI data. A MRI compatible cryoprobe and a stereotactic probe positioning device are provided. The resolution of MR images is enhanced by mounting a radio frequency MR coil on the intracorporeal end of a cryoprobe. During cryosurgery the temperature distribution in the frozen region is solved by determining the boundary of the frozen region and solving the heat equation for the known boundary conditions. During cryosurgery the temperature distribution in the unfrozen region is determined by T1 measurements. The process of freezing is controled using information from the solution of the energy equation in the frozen region and temperature measurements in the unfrozen region. After cryosurgery the extent of the tissue damage may be ascertained using phosphorus-31 and/or sodium-23 spectroscopy with a special coil set on the cryosurgical probe.

摘要： An electrical rotary switch has a rotor with a periphery, a moving contact on the rotor and several connected parts adjacent the rotor periphery, and four fixed contacts around the rotor for short-circuiting by the moving contact. Each fixed contact has first, second, and third integrally connected sections. The first section bears resiliently against the rotor periphery for sliding contact with the moving contact parts. The second section turns through an angle larger than 135° from the first section. The third section turns through an angle smaller than 90° from the second section for connection of an electrical cable by self-gripping. The moving contact has an undulating profile matching with that of an adjacent part of the rotor periphery.

摘要： A device comprising an array of sensors and a multiplicity of bus lines, each sensor being electrically connected to a respective bus line and comprising a respective multiplicity of groups of micromachined sensor cells, the sensor cell groups of a particular sensor being electrically coupled to each other via the bus line to which that sensor is connected, each sensor cell group comprising a respective multiplicity of micromachined sensor cells that are electrically interconnected to each other and not switchably disconnectable from each other, the device further comprising means for isolating any one of the sensor cell groups from its associated bus line and in response to any one of the micromachined sensor cells of that sensor cell group being short-circuited to ground. In one implementation, the isolating means comprise a multiplicity of fuses. In another implementation, the isolating means comprise a multiplicity of short circuit protection modules, each module comprising a current sensor circuit and an electrical isolation switch.

摘要： An electrical connector for use on an electrical cable, for drawing power from the cable, includes a body having upper and lower sides, the lower side including a channel which opens to the exterior on the lower side such that the cable can be laterally inserted into the channel from the lower side, a clamp in the channel for clamping the cable in the channel, and an operator on the upper side for operating the clamp, the operator being operable through a screw action. Also included is a pair of conductors, each conductor having a sharp lower end for piercing the cable clamped in the channel to make contact with a respective conductive core of the cable, and an upper end for external electrical connection on the upper side.

摘要： There is disclosed numerous embodiments of a method and apparatus for a particle scanning system and an automatic inspection system. In each of these a particle beam is directed at the surface of a substrate for scanning that substrate. Also included are a selection of detectors to detect at least one of the secondary particles, back-scattered particles and transmitted particles from the substrate. The substrate is mounted on an x-y stage to provide it with at least one degree of freedom while the substrate is being scanned by the/particle beam. The substrate is also subjected to an electric field on it's surface to accelerate the secondary particles. The system also has the capability to accurately measure the position of the substrate with respect to the charged particle beam. Additionally, there is an optical alignment means for initially aligning the substrate beneath the,particle beam means. To function most efficiently there is also a vacuum means for evacuating and repressurizing a chamber containing the substrate. The vacuum means can be used to hold one substrate at vacuum while a second one is being loaded/unloaded, evacuated or repressurized. Alternately, the vacuum means can simultaneously evacuate a plurality of substrates prior to inspection and repressurize of the same plurality of substrates following inspection. In the inspection configuration, there is also a comparison means for comparing the pattern on the substrate with a second pattern.
