摘要: In one aspect, the invention provides methods and apparatus for forming optical devices on large area substrates. The large area substrates are preferably made of quartz, silica or fused silica. The large area substrates enable larger optical devices to be formed on a single die. In another aspect, the invention provides methods and apparatus for forming integrated optical devices on large area substrates, such as quartz, silica or fused silica substrates. In another aspect, the invention provides methods and apparatus for forming optical devices using damascene techniques on large area substrates or silicon substrates. In another aspect, methods for forming optical devices by bonding an upper cladding layer on a lower cladding and a core is provided.

摘要: A substrate support and method for fabricating the same are provided. In one embodiment of the invention, a substrate support includes an electrically conductive body having a substrate support surface that is covered by an electrically insulative coating. At least a portion of the coating centered on the substrate support surface has a surface finish of between about 80 to about 200 micro-inches. In another embodiment, a substrate support includes an anodized aluminum body having a surface finish on the portion of the body adapted to support a substrate thereon of between about 80 to about 200 micro-inches.

摘要: A method and apparatus for sealing a puncture or incision formed percutaneously in tissue separating two internal portions of the body of a living being with an anchor, a sealing plug and a filament connecting the anchor and sealing plug. The method and apparatus provide for automatic tamping and/or cinching of the sealing plug when the apparatus is withdrawn from the puncture site. The automatic tamping and/or cinching is facilitated by transducing a motive force generated by the withdrawal of the apparatus into a tamping and/or cinching force.

摘要: A vertical connection apparatus for connecting a pipeline to a subsea structure comprises a guide funnel for controlling the position of the pipeline relative to the subsea structure; a moveable barrier and a attachment region for a drive mechanism; the moveable barrier is operable between an open position in which the pipeline can pass through the guide funnel and a closed position in which the barrier prevent the end of the pipeline passing through the end of the guide funnel. A tool with a drive mechanism can be attached between the pipeline and guide funnel to manipulate the pipeline into a connectable position. A clamp connector secures the connection between the pipeline and subsea structure conduit.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for detecting a movement of an object marked with a marker. The system includes a sensor configured to capture a first image of the marker and to capture a second image of the marker after the first image, each of the first and second images having pixels each having a visual intensity. A controller is configured to compare the first image and the second image by comparing the visual intensity of each of the pixels of the first image and the second image, determine an area of overlap between the first image and the second image based on the comparison, calculate a change in position of the marker in the second image relative to the marker in the first image based on the area of overlap, and detect the movement of the object based on the change in position of the marker.
