摘要: A method, and a corresponding apparatus, implemented on a suitably programmed processor, selects an ideal computer to remove from a computer cluster observing a failure condition. The computer cluster includes multiple computers. The method includes the steps of recording, at each of the computers, health data for each of the computers, computing, at a health timeout, a first health score for each of the computers based on the health data, computing, at a fatal timeout, and based on the first health score, a second health score for each of the computers, and at each of the computers, selecting a computer having the highest health score for removal from the cluster.

摘要: Sample disks are excised from a membrane by a cutting apparatus that includes a cutting tool terminating in a hollow cylinder with an exposed cutting edge, the tool slidably retained within a sleeve or otherwise slidably mounted to a mounting body, with a spiral cam in either the tool or the mounting body. A rider is included in the construction and arranged to engage the cam such that sliding movement of the cutting tool translates into rotational movement of the cylinder and its cutting edge.

摘要: The present invention relates to catheters for selectively cooling or warming tissue within a patient's vasculature. The present invention utilizes novel heat exchanging devices, which reside inside the catheter body for selectively altering the temperature of fluid that flows through the catheter shaft. In addition, the present invention utilizes novel pumping devices, which reside within a patient's vasculature for withdrawing oxygenated blood into the catheter body where heat exchange occurs across a heat transfer interface for selective cooling or warming of the blood occurs. The present invention can be used in a multiplicity of medical disciplines where it is advantageous to selectively alter the temperature of tissue, including beating heart applications, as well as stopped heart medical interventions.

摘要: A method and system for monitoring the operational condition of a machine is disclosed. The system includes: a test probe configured to be coupled to the machine for measuring an operational parameter of the machine and for outputting a test signal representative of the measured operational parameter; a fault condition detection circuit, coupled to the test probe, for receiving and processing the test signal so as to detect a fault condition of the machine; a probe failure detection circuit, coupled to the test probe, for receiving the test signal and detecting a failure condition of the test probe if the test signal is not within defined limits, wherein the probe failure detection circuit provides a data path that is separate from the fault condition detection circuit; and a processor, coupled to the fault condition detection circuit and the probe failure detection circuit, for initiating a defined action in response to signals received from the fault condition detection circuit and the probe failure detection circuit. The method includes the following acts: measuring an operational parameter of the machine with a probe coupled to the machine; outputting a test signal representative of the measured operational parameter; providing the test signal to a machine fault detection circuit for processing; determining whether the test signal indicates that a machine fault condition exists; providing the test signal to a probe failure detection circuit; determining whether the test signal indicates a probe failure condition exists, wherein the probe failure detection circuit operates independently of the machine fault detection circuit; and initiating a defined action if it is determined that a machine fault condition exists and a probe failure condition is not detected.

摘要: Methods and systems for automatically synthesizing product information from multiple data sources into an on-line catalog are disclosed, and in particular, for automatically synthesizing the product information based on attribute-value pairs. Information for a product may be obtained, via entity extraction, feed ingestion, and other mechanisms, from a plurality of structured and unstructured data sources having different taxonomies and schemas. Product information may additionally or alternatively be obtained or derived based on popularity data. The product information may be cleansed, segmented and normalized. The product information may be clustered so closest products, attribute names and attribute values are associated. A representative value for an attribute name may be determined, and the on-line catalog may be updated so that entries are comprehensive, meaningful and useful to a catalog user. Updates from at least 500 million different data sources may be scheduled to occur as frequently as several times daily.
