A biaxially oriented polyester film is disclosed which has a base layer of at least 80% by weight of a thermoplastic polyester, and which has a cover layer and, located on the cover layer, a layer functioning as an O2 barrier, wherein said cover layer is composed of a polymer or of a mixture of polymers which comprises at least 40% by weight of ethylene 2,6-naphthalate units; 0% up to 40% by weight of ethylene terephthalate units; and, if desired, up to 60% by weight of units from other aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic diols and/or aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic dicarboxylic acids; with the proviso that the Tg2 value of the polyester film is above the Tg2 value of the base layer but below the Tg2 value of the cover layer. The film has particularly low atmospheric oxygen transmission and has high gloss. It is particularly suitable for packaging light- and air-sensitive foodstuffs and other light- and air-sensitive consumable items, and also for producing insulating materials.

A protective cover for natural fiber apparel to protect the apparel from moths, moth larvae, and other pests is disclosed. The protective cover encloses not only natural fiber apparel, but also a hanger from which the apparel is hung. A substantial portion of the protective cover is made from a fabric that prevents moths and other insects from penetrating the protective cover and depositing eggs or consuming the apparel therein. At the same time, this fabric allows air to travel therethrough. A window is incorporated into the body of the protective cover to allow users to view the one or more apparel items protected by the protective cover. The protective cover also includes a zipper along its outer edge to allow access to the apparel contained within.

The invention relates to a white, sealable, thermoformable, biaxially oriented and coextruded polyester film that comprises at least one base layer B and at least one sealable cover layer A, wherein at least the base layer B contains a polyester starting compound and a cycloolefin copolymer (COC). The polyester starting compound should contain an increased amount of diethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol or isophthtalic acid. The invention further relates to a method for producing the inventive polyester film and to the use thereof for thermoformed articles, especially on high-speed machines.
