The present invention relates to a copolymer comprising units derived from monomers (i) an α-olefin and (ii) an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or derivatives thereof esterified with a primary alcohol branched at the β- or higher position, wherein the copolymer has a reduced specific viscosity of up to 0.08. The invention further provides for a lubricating composition containing said copolymer. The invention further provides a method and use of controlling viscosity index by supplying to an oil of lubricating viscosity the copolymer with pendant groups. In addition, the copolymer of the present invention may be useful as a base oil replacement.

The apparatus and methods for using earcons as user prompts in mobile communication devices described herein are directed to implementing a mode of communication in these communication devices having speech recognition capabilities wherein spoken prompts are disabled and replaced with short identifiable sound prompts such as the earcons. In general, according to one aspect of the invention, a method for operating a communication device that includes speech recognition capabilities, comprises implementing on the device a user interface that employs a plurality of different user prompts, wherein each user prompt is for soliciting a corresponding spoken input from the user or informing the user about an action or state of the device; implementing on the device a plurality of different earcons, each earcon being mapped to a corresponding different one of the plurality of user prompts; and when any selected one of said plurality of user prompts is issued by the user interface on the device, generating the earcon that is mapped to the selected user prompt. Each prompt of the plurality of user prompts has a corresponding language representation and wherein generating the earcon for the selected user prompts includes generating the corresponding language representation through the user interface.

An injection molded print head for an assembly of print heads for large scale printing of, e.g., billboards, banners, posters and the like, includes a nozzle plate that is bonded to a manifold plate. The manifold plate is formed with ink-receiving nozzle chambers that are coaxially registered with respective nozzles in the nozzle plate. The bonded manifold and nozzle plates may be removed from the balance of the print head for nozzle cleaning/replacement purposes. A transducer holder supports piezoelectric transducers that are coaxially registered with respective nozzle chambers. A pulse transmitting plate is disposed between the transducer holder and the manifold plate for transmitting energy from the transducers to the nozzle chambers to thereby controllably discharge ink through selected nozzles. The nozzles may be arranged in columns, with each column being canted at an oblique angle relative to the direction of print head movement over the substrate to be printed.
