摘要: A process for preparing free standing polymeric belts which includes the steps of providing at least one sleeve electrode coaxially spaced apart from and surrounding at least one other electrode in a bath comprising a dispersion of electrically charged, thermoplastic film forming polymer particles in an organic liquid dispersion medium, the polymer particles having a weight average molecular weight of at least about 35,000 and being substantially insoluble in the organic liquid medium at electrodeposition temperatures and sufficiently soluble in the organic liquid medium at elevated temperatures to coalesce and form a viscous sol coating, applying an electric field across the electrodes until a thick, substantially uniform deposit of polymer particles forms on the interior surface of the sleeve electrode, removing the sleeve electrode bearing the deposit of polymer particles and residual liquid dispersion medium clinging to the deposit of polymer particles from the bath, heating the deposit to initially solubilize the polymer particles in the residual organic liquid dispersion medium to form a coalesced, continuous viscous sol coating of the solubilized polymer particles, continuing the heating to evaporate the residual organic liquid dispersion medium and form a continuous, solidified, cylindrical, dry polymer film, and removing the dry polymer film from the interior surface of the sleeve electrode. This dry polymer film may subsequently be coated with various layers.

摘要: A fuser belt that is used in an electrostatographic printing machine. The fuser belt has a thickness ranging from about 3 to about 20 mils and has a substrate layer and a toner release layer. The substrate layer is composed of a base material and a first thermally conductive additive, wherein the base material is composed of fibers or a polymeric film. The toner release layer is composed of an elastomeric material and a second thermally conductive additive.

摘要: Controllably conductive polymer compositions may be used in electrophotographic imaging developing systems, such as scavengeless or hybrid scavengeless systems or liquid image development systems. The conductive polymer compositions includes a charge-transporting material (particularly a charge-transporting, thiophene-containing polymer or an inert elastomeric polymer, such as a butadiene- or isoprene-based copolymer or an aromatic polyether-based polyurethane elastomer, that additionally comprises charge transport molecules) and a dopant capable of accepting electrons from the charge-transporting material. The invention also relates to an electrophotographic printing machine, a developing apparatus, and a coated transport member, an intermediate transfer belt, and a hybrid compliant photoreceptor comprising a composition of the invention.

摘要: A piezo-active charge retentive member, such as a photoreceptor, has a grounded electrode layer separating a photoreceptive layer and a piezo-active layer. External vibration sources become unnecessary since supplying an A.C. voltage across the piezo-active layer to the grounded electrode layer causes the piezo-active layer, and thus the entire photoreceptor, to vibrate. Vibration of the photoreceptor enhances the transfer of development powder from the photoreceptor to the transfer material, such as a sheet of paper. Vibration of the photoreceptor also improves the development of images and assists the cleaning of residual development powder from the photoreceptor surface.
