摘要: An endless belt is disclosed comprising: (a) an electrodeposited metal layer having a first end region and a second end region; and (b) an electrically conductive stiffening member integrated with the first end region. There is also disclosed a process comprising: (a) positioning a first electrically conductive stiffening member in a first end region of a mandrel; (b) depositing a layer of metal over the mandrel and over the first stiffening member to form an article comprised of a first end region, and thereby integrating the first stiffening member with the first end region of the article; and (c) removing the article and the integral first stiffening member from the mandrel.

摘要: There is disclosed a dip coating method comprising: (a) shaping the widths of a plurality of hollow, flexible, endless substrates into an elongated shape and arranging the plurality of the elongated substrates into a configuration for dipping into a coating solution of a single coating vessel prior to (c); (b) dipping the plurality of the substrates having the elongated shape into a coating solution disposed in the coating vessel; and (c) raising the plurality of the substrates having the elongated shape from the coating solution, thereby resulting in coated substrates.

摘要: There is disclosed a dip coating method for fabricating a photosensitive member employing a substrate which defines a top non-imaging portion, a middle imaging portion, and a bottom non-imaging portion, wherein the method comprises: (a) immersing the bottom non-imaging portion, the middle imaging portion, and optionally a part of the top non-imaging portion of the substrate in a coating solution; (b) raising the middle imaging portion out of the coating solution; and (c) raising the bottom non-imaging portion out of the coating solution at a take-up speed which is decreasing from the take-up speed of the substrate at the junction between the middle imaging portion and the bottom non-imaging portion, thereby reducing the size of any bead on the bottom non-imaging portion.

摘要: There is disclosed a chuck assembly for engaging the inner surface of a hollow substrate comprising: (a) a fluid impermeable elastic membrane including a substrate engaging portion, wherein the inner surface of the membrane defines an interior space; and (b) a plurality of radially movable members at least partially disposed in the interior space, wherein the membrane is dimensioned to provide a radially inward force on the members, wherein the members in a radially expanded position push the substrate engaging portion of the membrane against the substrate inner surface, and wherein the peripheral dimension of the elastic membrane decreases when the members are in a radially contracted position.

摘要: A coating method using an endless, hollow substrate in the shape of a belt or cylinder having an outer surface, an inner surface, a first end, and an open second end, including: (a) depositing via dip coating a first coating solution over the outer surface of the substrate and simultaneously over the inner surface by permitting the first coating solution to flow through the second end to be deposited on the inner surface, thereby depositing a first layer over the outer surface and the inner surface; and (b) depositing via dip coating a second coating solution over the first layer on the outer surface of the substrate and simultaneously over the first layer on the inner surface by permitting the second coating solution to flow through the second end to be deposited on the first layer on the inner surface, thereby depositing a second layer over the outer surface and the inner surface, wherein the first layer and the second layer are deposited over all of the outer surface and the inner surface of a predetermined section of the substrate, wherein the first coating solution and the second coating solution are selected from the group consisting of a charge generating solution, a charge transport solution, an adhesive layer solution, and a charge blocking layer.

摘要: There is disclosed a dip coating apparatus including: (a) a single coating vessel capable of containing a batch of substrates vertically positioned in the vessel, wherein there is absent vessel walls defining a separate compartment for each of the substrates; (b) a coating solution disposed in the vessel, wherein the solution is comprised of materials employed in a photosensitive member and including a solvent that gives off a solvent vapor; and (c) a solvent vapor uniformity control apparatus which minimizes any difference in solvent vapor concentration encountered by the batch of the substrates in the air adjacent the solution surface, thereby improving coating uniformity of the substrates.

摘要: A method is disclosed for heating a portion of an article comprised of nickel, formed by electrodeposition, and possessing an internal stress sufficient to shrink the outer cross-sectional dimension upon application of heat, thereby shrinking the outer cross-sectional dimension of the heated portion. The method may be used to couple the article to other members such as end flanges without the use of an adhesive.
