A system which reduces an electric load on an on-board electrical system of a vehicle. The brake system has an anti-lock and traction control system. The latter has a high-pressure pump, with which pressure fluid can be withdrawn from a supply container and fed into a brake line. A charging valve that can be switched out of its shutoff position into its open position by a control unit is disposed in an intake line of the high-pressure pump. The control unit switches the charging valve into its open position at least whenever feeding of pressure fluid into the brake line is demanded. The brake system is especially well-suited to passenger cars, which have a very severely fluctuating rear axle load status.

The low-pressure pump, in the automatic braking mode, generates charge pressure for the return pumps that is substantially below a maximum brake pressure, and the return pumps generate the maximum projected brake pressure and serve, in the additionally possible anti-lock mode, to return pressure fluid from the wheel brakes to the master cylinder. The vehicle brake system is an inexpensive low-pressure pump that offers a high possible capacity of the return pumps in the automatic braking mode.

A hydraulic brake system for a vehicle including, brake pressure modulators that prevent the locking of vehicle wheels caused by excessively high braking pressures. Such brake pressure modulators include brake line blocking valves and cylinders with pistons, where upon piston displacement, pressure fluid escapes from the wheel brakes to lower the brake pressure. The displacements of the pistons are controlled via valve assemblies that are connected to a servo pressure source. Failure of the servo pressure source, if there is even a small leak of a valve assembly, can lead to at least partial loss of a brake force during a braking event. To recognize and indicate any leak that might be present, a control unit which acts upon the valve assemblies is arranged such that it directs the valve assemblies into various switching positions and in this process, via a pressure sensor, observes whether logically observed pressures are varying impermissibly.

Each brake pressure line is also assigned a return pump, which bypasses the valve. At least one valve, in the currentless state or with the absence of pressure buildup in a brake pressure line, blocks this brake pressure line and communicates with a control unit for pulsed opening upon pressure buildup in the brake pressure line. Because of the additional disposition of a pressure valve and check valve in a bypass around the pulsed valve, expensive pressure reducers are dispensed with, with little additional expense in the anti-skid control system. Even if the anti-skid control system fails, stability during braking is assured.

In a reasonably priced manner, the first valve is used as a safety valve that protects the external energy source and on the other hand, for braking procedures, is used as a valve for adjusting wheel brake pressures.

An arrangement limits a fuel supply from a fuel pressure reservoir by way of a controllable injection valve into the combustion space of an internal-combustion engine. The fuel flow is interrupted as a function of the forces applied to a spring-prestressed valve separating piston in the event of an outlet-side pressure drop. A reliable limiting of the maximal injected fuel quantity is achieved by providing a flow-through opening penetrating the separating piston with a closing device. This flow-through opening can be closed as a function of the displacing direction of the separating piston. If the displacing device closes the flow-through opening in the starting position, during the injection phase and in the piston end position, the limiting valve will continuously interrupt the fuel flow in the case of an outlet-side pressure drop. Alternatively, the flow-through opening is such that a fuel filter cartridge can be inserted into the separating piston, through which fuel, which was apportioned between two respective injection phases, flows during the restoring stroke.

The invention relates to a fuel-injection system for an internal combustion engine. The fuel-injection system contains a number of fuel injectors which are supplied with fuel by a high-pressure pump via a common inlet pipe and high-pressure lines leading from said pump to the individual fuel injectors. High-pressure storage devices are provided in each of the high-pressure lines in each of the high-pressure lines, the fuel storage volumes of said high-pressure storage devices being between 80 and 300 times, preferably between 120 and 200 times the maximum injection quantity per injection action. The diameter D2 of the high-pressure lines leading from the common inlet pipe to the high-pressure storage devices is measured to minimize the difference in the quantities of fuel injected by the fuel injectors.

A simplified and improved hydraulic brake system has at least one valve arrangement for the brake pressure modulation in a wheel brake. Furthermore, a high-pressure pump is provided to return pressure medium from the wheel brake into a main brake cylinder in the case of an anti-lock control operation or to deliver pressure medium from the main brake cylinder into a wheel brake during drive-slip control operation. A shut-off valve with a spring-actuated through-flow position and a shut-off position, which can be selected by the pressure at the main brake cylinder end, is arranged upstream on the suction side of the high-pressure pump. The hydraulic brake system with anti-lock and drive-slip control device is used in motor vehicles.
